  1. God I have just stumbled across this thread. As an intermittent female user of the centre and a mother of two young children, this is just absolutely awful. I hope the members of staff concerned have received disciplinary offences at work and not 'just' a talking to. I absolutely agree with someone earlier (re male cleaner coming into the female changing area without notice) that this be considered or ought to be considered as an offence. Jesus Christ. Where is the duty of care???
  2. Thanks so much everyone, I really appreciate the very helpful advice; thanks sniff too - ours is an ent op too so probably for the same thing given the other circumstances! I don't really want to wait so given its the same surgeons, I think it's probably lewisham then.
  3. Morning! My pre schooler may potentially need to have a routine day surgery operation soon and we have been given the choice of lewisham hospital (one month waiting list) or evelina (6 month waiting list). Would anyone have any feedback they could share on lewisham hospital, positive or negative, and in particular re pediatric day surgery, as there must be a reason for the variation in waiting list times!!!? Much appreciated, thank you.
  4. Thanks guys for all the advice. It looks as though the general feeling is (space-dependent) that a 'proper' bed is the right choice for my toddler. Eeeek I quite like him being contained at night! Still, they can't stay in a cot forever. That is surely one of the most brilliant tips I've heard about the duvet, will definitely be using that one. Thanks again.
  5. Hi - does anyone have advice on the whole bed issue? I have a just-over-2 year old who currently happily sleeps in the cot version of his cotbed. We also have another baby on the way due early next year and obv for the first few months will be in a Moses basket. I was planning to buy another cotbed for the second baby to obv have as a cot initially after the Moses basket and for my toddler to keep his cotbed and convert it into a bed when he's ready for it. But my mother (the fountain of all wisdom!!) thinks this is waste of money and that we should give the cotbed to the baby and buy my son a proper (kid's) bed at the right time for him..... does anyone have any thoughts about this? Surely the bed version of the cotbed is just the same a 'proper' kid's bed...???? Thank you for any advice on this somewhat banal subject!!
  6. Am assuming maxtedc lives on Maxted Rd??? So do I and having had baba no 1 about 2 years ago, and having to get up in the night, from about 4am those planes keep coming in thick and fast, a few minutes apart like they normally do during the day - no 1 or 2 slipping through. I had no idea they weren't supposed to and it has always annoyed me since as now you're aware of it, they do make one hell of a noise. Also, are they getting lower??? I swear I could never read the writing on some of their bellies when we first moved to the area 5 yeasr ago, during the day and while i was in the garden. Now it seems its much wasted potential advertising space given how low they seem to go - again contributing to the god awful noise.
  7. Hi James Barber - my husband and I are very excited about these possible plans for 'The Belham' school espcially as we live on Maxted Road and have a little one who would be starting primary school in Sept 2016. I do think that the immediate area around Maxted Road offers some good state primary schools - albeit their resources may/will be stretched in the future, especially (though ancedotally) in light of all the children that seem to be around now! I do think your point made in passing about secondary schools is absolutely imperative as the impression I have of the local area is that the standard of secondary schools is not anywhere near that of the local primary schools, relatively speaking. As a parent who really wants to stay in the area and in London in general for that matter, I really think a lot more work needs to be done on improving the standards of our local secondary schools and ultimately, in my opinion, this is what we're all working towards viz. primary school.
