  1. I hope it?s good as we bought last year right by it :) it has good ofsted, our neighbours kids all go and enjoy it they are all good kids. The new school site has been well designed (won a prize). There are also one or two other schools you might be in catchment of including Hollydale, Turnham academy a catholic school (forgotten the name) and John Stainer or Beecroft in a Brockley (those last two possibly a stretch depending on exact location. Apparently they had a dodgy ofsted one year but this is usually good post report as they are monitored and make changes, so the most recent ofsted was ?good? schools can move around depending on staffing - so I don?t put much weight on ofsted unless it?s very recent. The general area is really nice and full of young families with good nurseries. Secondary is where there is a bit of a hole - Harris girls very close, options of kings dale (lottery) and maybe new cross.
  2. I'm looking for a party venue for a Sunday afternoon to celebrate my daughters 3rd birthday. It will be mainly family, and therefore mostly adults 15 or so people - ideally somewhere that can cater inexpensive buffet food and serves alcohol as well as kid friendly and will let me bring my own birthday cake and put up some space themed decorations.
  3. We?re looking at buying in upper Nunhead catchment seems certain for ivydale but seems there is a bit of a black hole for schools here. People who live here which primaries have you managed? We seem to be 500m out of the 500m catchment from John stainer in brockley as our second closest. Does anyone know what choice we might have? I quite like the look of ivydale but it would be nice to think we had choices!
  4. Thank god for this, i?ve Always wondered why this is not in place (the last time they tried to get entering passengers to use the ramps which makes less sense as it will take more time to get to your platform and if you?re in a rush catching a train that is inconvenient. Although I expect it will be ignored and they?ll continue to spend money on staff standing around telling people which way to walk. It?s also a shame that those with mobility issues as well as those with pushchairs trying to access the ramp and lifts to board trains will have to battle with an onslaught of exiting people. I totally fail to understand why they don?t just open an new entrance on the other side of the station!
  5. Looking for mums, dads or guardians of 7-11 year olds! We are conducting market research for a TV Production company who produce a hit children's TV show. The purpose of the research is to learn about participants opinions towards buying merchandise online and a range of proposed product concepts. The interview will be conducted over the phone through a series of open-ended questions. Personal details of respondents will be kept completely anonymous. The interview will last approximately 45 minutes - 1 hour. As a thank you for giving up your time, we are offering Amazon vouchers to the value of ?20. If you are interested, please email [email protected]
  6. Thanks Tomskip, it's actually in Sydenham, Byne Road. It's in the borough of Bromley. The only school that seems very comfortably in the catchment area is the Harris Academy Crystal Palace (Which is a good school but I'm not keen on these blueprint schools and neither do I like the idea of having absolutely no choice at all!) The very annoying thing is that the school that is closest to the house itself (Alexandra Juniors) the infant school that is the feeder to the juniors is out of catchment as they are different sites and the kids that are already at the infant school get priority for the juniors of course. The infant school also has a minuscule catchment area and we wouldn't have any chance of a spot. Last year only 4 places opened up at the juniors to those not from the infants, and then I'd be uprooting her during her primary education even if we were to get a spot.... Anyway.... I'm rambling....
  7. Thank you so much! Still trying to make sense from this whole school catchment thing!

So the issue is, from the 2017 numbers, there would be only 1 primary school that we would be in the catchment for, but I don't really want to send my daughter there if I Can help it. If I don't put it as any of the 6 choices, will I run the risk of not getting any of my 6 (Other, further away, but still less than a mile away) choices? I guess, what happens if none of the 6 choices can offer her a place?

  8. Hi, would appreciate any help, we're currently looking at buying a house, which seems like it only has 1 possible primary school (Except for faith schools) There are several other (imo, better) primary schools but none of them seem to indicate that we would be successful. What would happen if I don't put the closest school down on my 6 preferences because I would prefer to be further away at a better school?
