  1. My wife was at the Adventure Playground the other day with her nephews.

She got talking with some other parents of some of the kids, and apparently the council are planning on closing the playground!

And not just this one, possibly all the other Adventure Playgrounds and Youth Clubs in Southwark!

I don?t know how true this is, has anyone else heard anything?

It would be a shame, I?ve been there a few times, its seems like a great space for the children to play. I understand its been there for years!

  2. Oops egg on face moment.

It went under a ?300k refurb earlier this year & is now called the Elm Tree with great food and a lovely big beer garden.

Also has great live music by a blues band on Saturday evenings.

  3. I liked Koz when I lived in ED.

It will have strong competition in Beckenham though.

There are already great Turkish places in Hisar, Lalezar & Kemer. Koz will have the biggest size though, so may cater to larger groups. Hisar is run by the original owners of the ED branch too & is much nicer.

  4. I moved to clock house 2 years ago from ED & love it so far. Am in the school catchment area for Balgowan so it's a very family based feel to the area.

    Pubs

Goldsmith Arms has just opened in Penge - kitchen opening in the new year.

The Chancery has also just opened in October & is a great gastro pub with amazing food.(I believe it's same owners as Jolly Woodman - http://www.thechancerybeckenham.co.uk/

    Some great restaurants

Spice Society near elmers end for the best curry

Sapore Vero for independent pizza oven (No queing needed)

    Q Bar & Kitchen/Branded for a great steak/Sunday roast

Hisar for the best kebab (original owners of the ED branch)

    Zi Teresa for italian

There's copious amount of good restaurants. What is still needs are nicer pubs, but with the two opening the last 2/3 months there is definitely more promise. I have spoken to the guys at Antic too, who are looking to purchase a pub in Beckenham after opening successful in Bromley. Happy to help if you have anymore questions.

  5. Hi,

My wife is a face painter with over 10 years experience.

No childrens party too big or small - she has worked at school fairs & Southwark council events.

Please PM to make appointments or let if you have any questions.

Please find attached some pictures from a recent event.

    Thanks

    Stephen

  6. Using the official webpage for information & not a drunk in the pub. Crazy.

  7. For your budget, I would recommend Penge or Anerly. Although be quick as Penge has an Antic pub opening next month & another gastropub has just been mooted by Penge Tourist Board.

Last year I moved to Beckenham, around the Balgowan cathcment area.

Pluses - real community atmosphere with street parties, can walk to 3 stations, walk to high street with Odeon and great restaurants & independent coffee shops, quick bus to ED, good schools, Kelsey park on doorstep

Minuses - really bad pubs at the moment making Friday and Saturday nights pretty grim. Have been talking to Antic pubs who are actively looking for a site on the high street.
