Last week I had a lovely afternoon helping out in the Brockwell Park Greenhouses which are part of the Community gardens in the park. The Greenhouses are going through a huge reorganisation at the moment under the supervision of a nice lady called Jane who is the new site manager. Jane, the committee and the volunteers have lots of exciting plans for the gardens and there is some lottery funding allocated to the project but there is a huge amount to do, especially at the moment, from clearing beds and rubbish to sowing seeds (I planted 130 aubergines yesterday). The amount of work to do is overwhelming and there aren't all that many volunteers so I thought I'd post this in case anyone felt like they had itchy green fingers and fancied lending a hand. It's a great place to go if you don't have a garden at home and it's just a great place to go anyway and will be amazing once everything is up and running. Extra hands would be appreciated for a big clear up and if you'd like to lend a hand you can go along on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays from lunchtime onwards. Wear your wellies. Jane's number is 07552 381183 if you want to get in touch- she would be glad for your help. See you there.
