  2. Aston came to re-seal our bathroom, clean the grouting and painted the inside of the bathroom window. Decided to use him after seeing a number of recommendations on the forum after we had been badly let down by a previous handyman we used to use.

Not only did Aston do an excellent job, he was polite and courteous at all times, and cleaned up thoroughly after every day. Unfortunately a lot of workmen I have dealt with in the past can come across as being rude and disorganised, however Aston was a breath of fresh air! I would therefore highly recommend him for any odd job you have around the house.

  3. I realise that there are a number of places that offer bike maintenance in and around East Dulwich, but could someone recommend any that are good and not too expensive? My son’s bike needs his gears adjusting and although it seems like a relatively simple task, I just don’t have the time!

I’ve had a search through the forum but don’t seem to be able to find anything. Any recommendations would be most appreciated.

    Many thanks!

  4. We've been with Zen for quite a few years now and they are great. They consistently perform well in the PC Pro awards, have good customer service and good upload speeds. My wife and I both work from home and have not experienced any problems with video calls, uploading and downloading large files, etc.
  5. Thanks for the info. Unfortunately this has been the same for many months, so perhaps the noise is coming from a faulty burglar alarm? Odd that it only seems to be on during the day, but perhaps that makes sense as an alarm may not be active at night when the occupants are at home.
  6. Quite a few months ago one of my neighbours decided to install what I presume is a pigeon deterring device. It omits a high-pitched noise similar to a burglar alarm for about 5 seconds every 2 minutes. It was a minor irritant, but now the weather is warmer and we have the windows open it is extremely annoying. I'm also reluctant to make use of the garden because of this noise. At least it is switched off at night so it does not disturb our sleep.

I would speak to the person who is causing this, but I have no idea who it is as the noise echos off all the houses in the area so it is difficult to locate. If anyone has any suggestions about how to deal with it they would be gratefully received!

    Many thanks,

    Dan

  7. Thanks for bringing this petition to our attention, I have just signed.

Whilst it is good to encourage people to use their cars less, I really don't think that these road closures are the correct way to go about it. Even cyclists seem to be generally negative to these closures as it is difficult to cycle around the surrounding roads due to increased congestion, and this was supposed to be beneficial to cyclists.

  8. Hi,

Does anyone know of anywhere in East Dulwich with a recycling bin for old batteries? I?m referring to AA, AAA types, not old car batteries! I used to take them to a Dulwich Library, or to my office, but as neither of those are currently open I?m at a bit of a loss. Don?t really want them to go to landfill!

    Many thanks.
