  1. Hey all, This Sunday a team of volunteers from the 948 Studio will be at the Peckham Car Boot collecting donations for communities in Jamaica after the Category 5 hurricane that devastated the region last month. We'll be there from 10am–2pm, so if you have anything from the list below that you’re able to give, please do pop down. All donations are appreciated — I just ask that everything is in good, considerate condition (clean, not broken etc) To make this drive possible, 948 partnered with Windward Aid, a disaster relief charity supporting countries across the Caribbean. They work with local and international partners to rebuild lives, restore hope, and strengthen resilience for future generations. This donation drive will run on Sunday 23rd November at Peckham Car Boot - all items collected will be shipped to Jamaica in December and distributed directly by Windward Aid’s team on the ground. Thank you so much to everyone who’s able to support. If you have stuff you'd like to donate but are unable to make it on Sunday, please drop me a PM as I'll be able to facilitate a collection Thanks so much
  2. Hi if these are still available I would love to come and collect
  3. Its a few years ago now, but I organised my end of year prom (for year 13) at Off the Cuff in Herne Hill - was on the cheaper side to rent and at that age, felt very cool and clubby. I had my own 18th at Whirled Cinema in Loughborough Junction but I'm not sure if they take event bookings like that anymore
  4. Hey there, Currently looking for a 2-3 bed flat/house for myself + housemates. Ideally in the Camberwell, Peckham, Queens Road area. Can be flexible with move in dates, but ideally within the next few weeks-months. We are all women and work in production, so looking for a space where we can comfortably live and WFH! If you know of anything available, we’d be really grateful to hear from you. Thanks so much! Ruby x
  5. Theres a new open mic night at Peckham Rivera from 7pm, lots of blues and jazz :)
  6. Hiya, I've just graduated from university with a degree in Landscape Architecture and now have some supplies I will no longer be using. I know these can be quite pricey so wanted to see if there are any students (or soon to be students) in need of them? I have: -books on plants and plant identification -books on landscape architecture and design -scale rulers -set squares -big portfolio and art bags -Telescopic Drawing Tube with Shoulder Strap I can send pics and more information, just send me a message!
  7. Just filled it out, I used Rye Lane as a case study in my final hand-in for uni just now :) if you want to chat further just send me a message !
  8. Glad you agree. This entire thread has just a been ploy for you to have a one-sided debate. So I won't be replying anymore, because, let's face it, your views are never going to change because you won't allow it. Instead you wanted a space to have a fun, light-hearted debate, but when you're debating people's lives, its no longer fun or light-hearted. But it's ok that you might not understand that because not everyone's perfect, it gives me hope for my current generation and how young people will change the future. But try to do better.
  9. This is the vibe I get from this thread
  10. Surely you can see the parallels between what you're saying and the use of other derogatory names for POC. By denying the word itself you are using your privilege to fight against it, a privilege that other people don't have to use agaisnt names and terms that are much more offensive and detrimentral. 'White privilege' isn't a term that has come from years of oppression, quite the opposite, in fact, so instead of fighting against it, acknowledge it and use your privilege to fight for others, because by arguing against the word you're highlighting your privilege.
  11. Or maybe she has other uni mates that she could house hop in between, not an ideal but desperate times

Hiya, I'm in a similar situation to your grand daughter, I'm meant to move out of my student house on the 30th June in Sheffield, but my new tenancy doesn't start until the 9th July. We've been lucky enough to know the current tenants of the house, who have agreed that we cant store our belongings in the dining room as its not used much. However, it does seem incredibly unforgiving of the landlord to not be a little lenient given the circumstances, my landlord is giving us until the morning of the 31st to have all our stuff out. This was only we messaged him and had a discussion about the current climate that he agreed. A few of my friends, myself included, were hoping to camp or use an airbnb in the 9 day period, however, there doesn't seem to be any airbnb's available in the midlands region (!!!) nor are any of the campsites currently open, all very understandable. If I find any available spaces to stay, I'll be sure to pass on the information to you!
  13. I have been quarantining, as have all the people that I know who went. All the charities who run the protest specifically ask that people only attend one every 14 days. In terms of protesting, historically, it?s been proven that they do incite change. Especially when they?re against entire systems that have been built to oppress people?s rights, how else are people meant to show they?re unity against one cause? As for the ?known criminal?, I think we can all agree the ?known criminals? are really the four police officers who killed a man who wasn?t resisting arrest. Two of the policemen had previous complaints on their record, Derek Chauvin had 18 prior complaints and Tou Thao had 6. All these complaints have been linked back to violence and racial profiling. Maybe this a time where we question the policing system and how they?re trained etc, rather than civilians.
  14. Couldn't have said it better myself! I've been to a protest myself and found it very socially distanced, with charities handing out free masks, gloves and bottles of water to help maintain safety as much as possible! Much better than going to the beach/park with mates on the hot bank holiday
  15. I would be honoured to be apart of this!
