Good evening, as stated before this is my last posting until my return on the 8th, this is my last task of the week. As promised, these are the engineering works for the coming weeks. Please ensure that posters are still checked in case of any changes. In essence 5 periods of engineering between now and September, can I also suggest the websites of Network Rail and Southern Railway Engineering works that affect Peckham Rye Area/East Dulwich/North Dulwich/Tulse Hill/Sth Bermondsey and Queens Road 14th June Sunday Peckham Rye to Clapham blocked meaning there is no metro services a replacment bus will operate between London Victoria and Peckham Rye, 05th June Sunday London Bridge to Tulse Hill/Clapham blocked meaning there are no metro line services and a bus service will operate between London Bridge to Tulse Hill where train service?s will start/terminate back also a replacment bus service will operate between London Victoria and London Bridge, 16th August Sunday Peckham Rye to Streatham blocked, terminate at Streatham a replacment bus will operate between London Bridge and Streatham, 06th September Sunday Peckham Rye to Battersea Park blocked meaning there will be no metro line services a replacment bus will operate between London Victoria and Peckham Rye. 13th September Sunday Peckham Rye to Clapham blocked meaning there is no atlantic line services a replacment bus will operate between London Victoria and Peckham Rye, Hope this helps and plenty of time to book your travel around these dates Lastly I am pleased to announce that the gates are now up and running at Peckham Rye, this will certainly improve safety, reduce ticketless travel. There is now extra staffing and of course the gates are ready in preperation for the Oyster Pay As You Go which is expected to go live in January 2010. I have just requested that the booking hall floor gets a deep clean, this will take place w/c 14th June, The departure screens will be moved over a few nights next week, and they will be placed above the ticket counters. Finally, I have made a request to have the booking hall refreshed. I will update you more on this once confirmed Best wishes Barry

Good evening all, It has been just over a month since I started the Station Manager thread here on the East Dulwich Forum. I have managed to resolve quite a few issues, others are in the pipeline and some I have no control over which have been passed to other departments. I am away from Saturday for a week, so will not be posting untill my return on the 8th, my last posting will be this Friday with a small update and publish the engineering works that are scheduled for the next few weeks which I agreed to do. I have certainly relished this challenge and will continue to listen and act upon ideas and suggestions Once again thank you for the kind comments already received and I look forward to hearing from you Best wishes Barry Jones Station Manager Stretham Hill Area

Dear all, please see the response from colleague at London Bridge, as you can see he is aware of the issue and he will get back to me Barry Hi Barry We are working on this the big problem is the train can only be advertised once the system has the head code. The other problem we have is the amount of split and attachments we have the staff know what platform as they have the workings but as before we can have more than one train on the platform. I will give the info to control to see if we can do anything. Hi Its taken a while to answer your point about more shelters at East Dulwich. I have requested from my facilities department that if any shelters that are removed from stations under refurbs to let me have one as a temporary fix, in the meantime I will be submitting a formal request via a business case to Southern Railway, this will take a while, however it is my intention to try and get this agreed and installed by the end of the summer in time for the Autumn. My other plan did not work hence taking this route! Michael and Co I have copied and pasted your comments to my friend and colleague who is the Station Manager at London Bridge, I am pretty certain the the "Control Point" is run by Network Rail however I have asked him to look into this and I will respond once he has had a chance to speak with his counterpart Regards Barry Michael Palaeologus Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Not sure that you can influence this Barry, but it > seems to to take an age for the platforms to be > identified on the main signage at London Bridge. > It seems to be "our" trains that are problematic, > i.e to ED or Denmark Hill , other trains have > their platforms identified a good 10 minutes in > advance. Hi Tony Today the engineers long with the Customer Information Manager attended Peckham Rye to resolve this issue of the announcements. The legal limit that we are permitted to transmit announcements is 100 Decibels, the announcements being monitored today after some tweaking were registering 68.7 Decibels which is quite low. We have to ensure that the hard of hearing can also hear the announcements so that was also taken into consideration today. My Duty Manager who also attended site today stood on your road and listened to the announcements and has stated that the noise level could hardly be heard, he also spoke with some people who work in the vicinity. I am hoping this will satisfy you and your neighbours and no more excessive noise levels can be heard in your homes The official report will be forwarded to me once compiled by the engineer in the meantime if there are any problems then please do not hesitate contact me. Please be assured that this matter has been given priority and actions taken to ensure that all parties are satisfied with the outcome. Hi, This is a very difficult question to tackle, as you can appreciate most engineering works take place during the night, a very small window to operate in and at weekends when there are less passengers. These works are necessay to improve the infrastructure and network. I can appreciate the incovenience this causes, however I can only get 3 months information at a time, I will try and see what's occuring on the London Brdige line (I can speak with Network Rail) and maybe a good idea to post the works that are taking place so you can pre plan. At this present time engineering posters that are placed at the stations are posted a week to 10 days prior to the works taking place. From next week I can post engineering works for a month at a time here on the forum, I wouldnt want to go any further than that as programs etc can change Regards Barry clux Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > hello barry > > my nearest station is queens road peckham and for > about the last 3 months the weekend service has > been either completely shutdown due to engineering > works or running a very limited service. its > becoming a bit of a joke now. > > just wondered if you have any idea how long this > is likely to go on for. > > thank you very very much

Hi Mike The Southern operated service between Victoria and London Bridge via Denmark Hill will be withdrawn from May 2012. From that date London Overground Rail Operations Ltd (LOROL) will introduce a new service every 15 mins between Dalston Junction and Clapham Junction via the East London Line. There is a possibility that Southeastern trains may put in extra stops at Clapham High St, Denmark Hill and Peckham Rye to cover loss of trains from those stations to Victoria, but this hasn?t been confirmed. Hope this helps Barry EDdownunder Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Barry, > > Firstly well done on your initiative. > > Secondly, I have a query regarding the Saturday > service from Pk Rye to London Victoria and it > seems to be a permanent loss to engineering works > or the like. > > I recently read that a backroom deal was done to > ditch the London Bridge to Victoria trains to > increase funds for the East London Line. Hi Ladymuck I can assure you that this is in addition to the morning hours and should have made that clear when I posted my message. Hi For information purposes....if someone is stranded, they can get a relative/friend to go the nearest train station and ask for a silk arrangement, they pay for the ticket and the clerk will send a fax through to the stranded persons train station, hey presto one ticket will be issued Maybe of use, you never know, you may be stranded one day Barry -
Hi First of all I would like to convey my apologies on behalf of Southern Railway, reading your posting makes an interesting read to say the least and I can certainly understand your frustration. This is not what we like to portray in any circumstances regardless of the issue at hand Tomorrow morning I will be showing your complaint to my line manager, I can assure you he will take this up with the relevant manager. Unfortunately this is all I can do for you as another department. In the meantime if you would kindly email me your personal details I will ensure you get a prompt response. Lastly if you can be exact as to the day this took place it would certainly help. Again apologies Regards Barry eater81 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Barry, this is a good thread, I am impressed that > you have come on here. > > I would like to voice my concerns about the > "heavies" in black coats that Southern Trains have > started hiring to enforce ticket checks. Good afternoon, a small update! * Peckham Rye: The "Old Billiard Room" on platform 3 is still under renovation, this room is managed by Network Rail and their property agents "Spacia" However there is a possibilty later this year under the NSIP Program (National Stations Improvement Program)that something more may come of this area. I hope to speak with someone later to get an update Works underway to refurbish the waiting room on platform 1 and 2 There are works currently underway on the platforms and canopies, once these are finished I will endeavour to highlight the new stair treads and some other minor painting of the station. I have just received a quote for the professional cleaning of the booking hall floor and some other maintenace work to bring this area up to a standard expected of passengers I now have the plans for the new Automatic Gates which will be installed very shortly, I will get a poster up before the end of the week showing the position of them. Also I am looking at the old toilets on platform 1/2 to see if they can be refurbished and put back into use Outside Peckham Station there is an old retail unit, I believe it was a bookmakers before my time, I have now asked our property agents to find a tenant that may want to trade from there, prime location which will also improve the environment (any suggestions please email me, I am all ears) Queens Road: There are plans to rejuvenate this station under the NSIP program, again once I have further details I will post accordingly North Dulwich: An inspection will take place tonight for the booking hall ceiling, I am hoping to get this repaired and painted within the next two weeks, hopefully they will be able identify where the water ingress issue is so this can be fixed once and for all. The bottom of the stairs to platform 1, there is a window frame which is rotten and taped up, this will be rectified an painted by the end of the week. This will also include the glass replacement East Dulwich: Stairs are now highlighted to each platform, cigarette bins now in place, Also waiting for a start date for the removal of grafitti to the platform risers Lastly which concerns all the above stations, the Mobile Cleaning Team went live this morning, they have under taken a big operation to clear as much of the rubbish behind the fences as possible (ED). I am hoping you will all see a considerable difference the cleanliness to your stations. As you can see there have been a lot of actions put into place, which leaves me wondering would you still like me to faciliate a local "Meet the Manager" session so you can meet the team in its entirety and possibly discuss further ideas for your stations? Kind regards Barry
