  1. This post really angers me. And it's not just about whether or not someone kicked a dog - which if true, yes, is not acceptable.

What angers me most is that yet again we have someone publicly shaming someone else online - clearly showing who this person is.

If an offence was committed then this should be highlighted to the relevant authority dealing with matters of animal protection - not the bear pit of a local forum. Shaming using a photograph of the person does nothing but demonise and create a witch hunt - whether that person shown is guilty or not.

We live in a horrible world where people's lives are ruined by such threads as this. Is that what the original post author and everyone who has weighed in really wants?

By all means raise the issue with the person in question, and if you have concerns for animal welfare please do it through the proper channels.

    Well said.

  2. Billy Ocean. Could you send cat round to me-mine just chunters at squirrels and maybe yours could give him some lessons about getting rid of them. By the way, if anyone is planting bulbs and is getting tired of the squirrels digging them up, the easiest solution is a liberal sprinkling of chili flakes over the soil. The squirrels then leave well alone

Unfortunately, this hero of cats is long gone............

  3. More fly-tipping on the corner of Barry, near Barry Stores......

Stupidly the address of the individual is on the package living on Barry Road.

Large box from Sky Glass, I have reported to the council and sent details of the Miss J L xxxx

    Incredible Richard.

  4. Does anyone know this person. We have some important mail that has been delivered incorrectly.

I have posted back several letters, marking "not known at this address", however the mail keeps on coming, it is marked "Urgent for addressee only" possibly a legal or medical letter?

I am happy to keep sending it back, but this has been going on for over a year!

  5. Hi there

My girlfriend and I are moving to the south end of Lordship Lane near the old Grove Tavern in December. We can’t wait.

We’ve read the threads about the tavern itself, but we were wondering if anyone knew of any other development plans or new openings in that part of Lordship Lane?

    Thanks,

    Seb

Nice part of the world. The connections via bus are good in all directions.............Forest Hill, ED, Sydenham etc.....

Dulwich Beer Dispensary is a nice local pub.

Dulwich Park an easy walk, pizza's and pints in the park...........

Shop wise, you can bus it to LL or FH.....

West Dulwich is okay for a tesco and some boutique shops and pubs.......AH and Rosendale.........walkable / cyclable / busable..........

Welcome to the area! It is a lovely place to live with lovely locals, bar the regular posters on here!! :)

Forget to say, the best pub in ED is The Great Exhibition followed by the EDT, then Palmerston, The Cherry Tree...................The Castle, The Bishop.....

Franklins is a great restaurant, but City prices...........

  7. Shame so many 'lockdown pups' are being abandoned, rescue centres are full!

I have heard this several times, but cannot see any evidence of it?

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-62610727

"There has been a "sharp rise" in the number of dogs being abandoned as the cost-of-living crisis deepens, a rescue centre has said.

Hope Rescue Centre in Rhondda Cynon Taf said it had taken 300 calls in the past three months about pets.

The centre said it was caused by a "perfect storm" of an increase in dog ownership during lockdown alongside the cost-of-living crisis.

In the year after the first lockdown, UK households bought 3.2 million pets."

And a year ago, before the 'cost of living crisis':

"Covid: Dogs bought in lockdown being abandoned"

Hardly conclusive, BBC Wales. Thank you though.

I have a dog and always carry and their poo.

In the Rye have approached about 10 people asking if they needed a poo bag, when not picking up their dogs poo.

The responses are normally "oh did he / she do a poo, I didn't realise as I am a business person on my phone"

Have found this approach a lot less confrontational, as people tend to have shorter fuses early in the morning.

  9. Yes. It happens. We ordered Deliveroo "Bang Burgers" once on a Friday at 6pm. They turned up at 9.30pm....

We refused to accept them and got a refund.

Luckily we had some pizzas in the freezer.

These companies get so busy at peak times and the service drops.

We still use them, but are more likely to order collection from Meat Liquor or Yamo etc....

  10. Update.

My dog was released from the vet yesterday evening, after a day of investigation and being on an IV......

She is on antibiotics and anti sickness meds.

She was very sleepy last night and this morning she was waiting and wagging her tail...

    All back.

The vet said every test they carried out was clear, at great expense.....

So it must have been a bug or a virus.

She has responded so well to antibiotics.

Thank you to all for your concern and help.
