Did you not see this event based from the square and passing through it several times? If you are cycling along DV and turning right into the square you would not be expecting a large crowd blocking the planters. If you are stuck in the middle of the road with children on bikes you can't easily reverse to enter the square on the other side away from the crowd. In the original post this is what happened to RRR Then there were numerous posts from anti low traffic people denying that people had blocked the road. Then that was proven to be factually incorrect with photographic evidence. What's the narrative there? You're the expert ;)
  4. These pictures attached clearly show people blocking the road, and standing between the planters will have caused problems for people turning from Dulwich Village. Fact. When the events were on in the square there were clear warning signs that an event was taking place and marshalls in high viz jackets asking people to walk bikes through the square but not making them dismount whilst still on dulwich village. Fact. As to whether people empathise more for children's safety or elderly people protesting about the inconvenience of not being able to drive as freely as before is a matter of personal opinion - not fact. Most people would be both concerned about children's safety AND genuine issues concerning the elderly. It is possible to hold two thoughts at the same time.
  5. @Abe_froeman It's perfectly clear what I wrote because hey guess what - its a thread! :))) so everyone can see it.
  6. @Abe_froeman >24,000 fewer vehicles per day on East Dulwich Grove? Really now? Dont be silly thats not what I said. If you look up the thread I said 'Yes 16% down - a reduction of 24,000 vehicles per day across the area.'
  7. Yes 16% down - a reduction of 24,000 vehicles per day across the area.
  8. Isn't increased boundary road traffic One Dulwich's main concern? If they care so much about this why aren't they looking more closely at the data on EDG and offering their *expert evidence* to prove that EDG is indeed gridlocked for over four hours a day every day?
  9. So anyone who doesn't agree with the mob on here now just get blatantly insulted. It's a sign of weakness.
  10. Bicknell how do you know council havent spoken to shops? Would be interesting to see actual evidence of how they can show effect of LTN separate to covid. Have you got a copy of it?
  11. The anti-LTN shops in Dulwich Village and Melbourne Grove which aren't food shops were closed.
  12. Hi Spartacus 'dismissing the lack of customers as a result of business model bring disrupted by a global pandemic is laughable' Even when the shops were closed?
  13. Would that be gradual change like erm a global pandemic? Business models and marketing strategies are currently disrupted *worldwide*. But hey - what's happened in little old Dulwich Village is all Southwark Councils fault.
  14. I just called The Mobility Trust to get their take on this. The person I spoke to was shocked and mystified to hear that I had been rudely insulted and accused of being 'appallingly offensive' for suggesting that mobility scooters might be an option for some people. She said for some people a mobility scooter is the perfect solution. Take a look at the testimonials on their website: https://mobilitytrust.org.uk/
  15. Ah thanks Spartacus. I wondered what the response would be. So to even dare to suggest that some people could use a mobility scooter is met with insults and and abuse. Very rational.
  16. Those against: Journeys are longer because of LTNS - people who drive less than a mile now have to drive further. Those for: Why are they driving less than a mile? Those against: Because they are disabled. Those for: What about mobility scooters? Is a single occupancy car the best way to do a short journey in climate emergency? Those against: Not ALL drivers are disabled - some are working parents or key workers getting to work. Those for: Well *some* of those people are abled-bodied and could walk / cycle / use public transport. They are more likely to switch to sustainable transport if the safe routes are there for them to do so. Those against: ???
  17. It was at a standstill. That's my point. As opposed to your original comment 'never at a standstill'.
  18. Apologies for reposting - so admin let the first post go after all. This is probably about the 5th time I've made this point so hey ho! an extra time for good measure :)
  19. @heartblock you say 'between Melbourne and Townley... It was always a busy flow, but was never at a standstill.' I've had to alter the wording slightly in this post because the admin says I've posted before - I know! its really tedious! I lived near Dog Kennel Hill 5 years ago and drove back and forth via EDG daily. Almost without fail at peak times I got stuck in traffic on the stretch between Melbourne and Townley. Looking back, now that I don't drive those short journeys and cycle instead, it seems ridiculous I repeatedly got stuck in traffic day after day after day - furious with 'the traffic' which of course I was part of! More needs to be done on EDG. But to say it **was never at a standstill** before the LTNs just isn't true.
  20. @heartblock you say 'between Melbourne and Townley... It was always a busy flow, but was never at a standstill.' I've posted this here a number of times so it's pretty tedious. I lived in Camberwell for some time in 2016 and drove back and forth via Melbourne Grove and EDG daily at school run times and other times. Almost without fail at peak times I got stuck in traffic on the stretch between Melbourne and Townley. Melbourne Grove was a gridlocked nightmare. Looking back now that I don't drive those short journeys and cycle instead, it seems ridiculous I repeatedly got stuck in traffic day after day after day - furious with 'the traffic' which of course I was part of! More needs to be done on EDG. But to say it **was never at a standstill** before the LTNs just isn't true.
  21. @Rockets Some people love the LTNs some don't. We're allowed a difference of opinion. Using words like 'the MONSTER' is divisive. Language is divisive. I must congratulate you - you're very good at it as are One Dulwich. Scaremongering about; 'kettling', women's safety, social injustice, leading questions about emergency services (as detailed above by ExD).. One Dulwich have tried every trick in the book to create fear in the community whilst dismissing any hard evidence against their preferences as biased. THAT is divisive. You can put a nice little smiley face on it if you think that makes it sound better - but at the end of the day exaggerating, scaremongering and inventing conspiracy theories just because you personally don't like what the council have done - is divisive.
  22. .... and last but not least - safe routes.
  23. Rockets: ------------------------ You?re being selective again DC??what about the vandalism of the signs in people?s gardens???hmmmmm? You do love your hyperbole accusations don?t you, quite an obsession?? ------------------------- No just pointing out your ridiculous attempt to equate: - oil poured on planters, spray paint on road signs, fly-posting on all roads in the area, personally insulting stickers placed on people's front doors and elsewhere on their private property - naming them! - personally insulting posters on lampposts revealing private addresses - and naming again! - repeatedly destroying plants from planters.. ..with some **CHALK HEARTS** or a couple of incidents of 'stop ltn' signs being pulled down. And I wonder who cut the traffic monitor strips? Because I doubt it was people who support the scheme. Pulling signs down was wrong. But to try and equate the above regarding costs or otherwise is utterly ridiculous and desperate.
  24. So hearts drawn with chalk (probably by a child) are equivalent to pouring buckets of engine oil over planters? You surpass yourself in hyperbole Rockets :))))))
  25. Well said LTN Boohoo - and of course the One Dulwich Gated Community would cause the same displacement they **claim** to care so much about. Wonder what Rosemund Kiss Debra would make of that??
