  1. Hi

I am currently a stay at home mum and in a bid to keep my brain working I am keen to organise an evening class. The problem is that my husband is not able to get home in time for me to get to a class. So I was thinking I would try to arrange regular babysitting from 5 to 7ish each week. Does anyone do something similar and/or have recommendations as to how to find a babysitter. I am not sure where to start!

    Many thanks

  2. Thanks all for replies. We have previously done pretty much all you have suggested (save the bottom wiping!). I think the problem is his extreme control freakery coupled with an absolute refusal to stay still. I don't think he is scared of poos themselves as he always is pretty enthusiastic about getting involved with flushing his accidents down the loo.

However, I think you are right Fushia re patience, as today he did his first ever poo in the potty (8 weeks in). It coincided with bedtime stories so I think he was in the frame of mind to stay put. Hooray. Am hoping it's the eureka moment. Fingers crossed!

  3. Sorry if this is hijacking thread but I am desperate for advice. We 'potty trained' using GF. My 2 1/2 year old son was initially resistant but was dry within a couple of days. Poos are however another matter. 8 weeks on, he does a poo in his pants every day. He clearly has a phobia saying he can't do it or that he is scared. We are at our wits end. We have tried to stop the process with a view to waiting a month or so and try again - but he won't, he wants to wear pants. We have tried to suggest that he tells us when he wants to do a poo and puts on pull ups. But again, he isn't interested/able/prepared to tell us. He just does a poo and then immediately asks to be changed. We have tried all matter of stickers, star charts, bribery etc. but it doesn't work as he really does not want to get on the loo or potty to do a poo and panics when we try (even when its in response to him saying he needs a poo). I feel as if we are at an impasse and am not sure how to progress things from here. Any advice?
  4. Hi Thursday afternoon ladies,

Sorry to go quiet - my best friend is finally out of hospital with her little baby who has had jaundice and been in a light box for a week - so I didn't know if I was seeing her today or not, but I am, so I am going to have to miss this Thursday afternoon again. Sorry - love the idea of wine (I mean toddler tea) at the Herne.

I can host toddler tea next week at mine, or am definitely up for doing something.

Anna, you are an amazing source of toddler activity ideas!

Did you do Cheeky C's. I go most Fridays and its fab for feeding whilst toddler plays.

Right all, hopefully see you next week.

  5. Hi all

Millymoo, congrats on the arrival of Isabella. It must have been so awful for you both when she was intensive and special care and I am so glad that she is now safe and home with you.

Ruth, sorry to miss the last Thursday meet up at Goose Green - I am about this Thursday and keen to meet up (I also need to pick up my grey scarf from you). My boy is currently beating this laptop with the bar from his brother's bouncy chair having been forced to give up running round the house with a biro. I am feeling frazzled and its only 9.30 on Monday morning!

Can't make coffee this morning sadly Count me in for next Monday though.

  6. Hi

Anna - Monday at the Gardens sounds good. Looking fwd to seeing WB and WB mums/mums to be there.

K4Ti - just to second the others, I agree that you shouldn't leave it too long before you offer a bottle. I think I failed to establish bottle feeding with my son as I left it too late. He took a bottle at 2 weeks and then I was lazy about expressing and didn' offer a bottle again regularly which meant that by 6 weeks he would not take a bottle at all (he next took a bottle at 7 months), so I am planning to start bottle feeding Alex (who is 2 1/2 weeks old) asap (again I have so far been lazy about expressing!).

  7. Hello everyone

Congrats to all the new mummies and babies and good luck Pippa for your induction. Well done Espelli jnr for putting on weight and getting out of hospital so soon. It must have been a reaaly scary experience. For any first time mums, just to second Laura and Bee's earleir posts - it definitely gets much easier.

Its all been very busy here - a baby and a toddler is definitely a challenging experience! I think this is the first time I have got on the computer in weeks (and thats because Ben - my 2 year old is in nursery today!). Definitely up for a meet up next week. My husband is going skiing with work at the end of next week (I am not sure how he managed to get me to agree to that one) so I will be very keen for company! Bee - I am afraid cinema is out for me on Thurs/Fri as I will have my toddler on those days.

    Take care all

  8. Hi all and congratulations Sara.

Our baby boy arrived on Christmas Eve as well. Another fast and furious 2nd labour, baby born within 15 minutes of getting to hospital (they initially said the labour ward was closed to new admissions and I would not have made it to another hospital).

Pippa, I thought I saw you knitting as I left the labour ward (we didn't go to the post natal ward which was great) but was too spaced out to say hi!

Happy Christmas to all and I look forward to meeting the other babies and the new babies to come soon.

  9. Hi all

First congrats to Moominfilly and Mouthercourage. And Bee I am really hoping all is ok and baby is on its way soon.

I am due Xmas day. I was hoping for an early delivery but my little boy has just come down with chicken pox so we definitely need to get that over with first.

Re meeting up tonight, I am not sure, my son wouldn't sleep last night as he was so itchy (who said chicken pox was a mild illness) so I fear that we may be in the same boat tonight. I have however been housebound for days, so am gutted as really need an eyebrow wax and general pamper before baby 2 arrives. Same goes for Friday at swings - Ben will still be infectious. Sigh.
