Tonight I’ll show you guys how I read photos as references & how I deconstruct them and translate them into drawings. Bring your own references! These can also be unfinished drawings!

Media: dry techniques
In our workshops we’ll cover:
understanding of head and overall face structure
different ways of starting a portrait. From line & from values.
Importance of gaze
different anatomical parts in the face
introduction to long poses
values
Break it down into stages
first sketch where we compose the portrait, make sure proportions are correct
Determine the 3-4 different value groups
Find sub-values
Clean up and tidy up drawing with lines and eraser
Use break to review drawings
ARTIST/MODELS will be asked to pose for 15 - 20 min each throughout the session. The more the merrier!

Schedule:
Doors open at 7pm to grab a drink at the bar before we start drawing upstairs
7.30 - 8.30 pm, 1st session
8.30 - 9.30 pm, 2nd session
There?ll be a 10-15 min break in between sessions to socialise, share our drawings and give our models a well-deserved rest.
Paper and pencils/pens will be available, but feel free to bring your own materials if you wish.

My name is Raquel and I?ve lived in London for almost 7 years now. Here, I have worked mostly in the art world and have studied a number of courses, including an MA in art history.
I have taken various IELTS and Cambridge exams, so I can help with them, too!

My name is Raquel and I am a local figurative artist who very much enjoys teaching!
I graduated with honours from Fine Arts in Madrid and majored in Sculpture and Drawing.
I love working with kids and encouraging their creativity. I also teach adults and all levels are welcome. I will always want to encourage your own personal style and work on your strengths.

Clay Portrait Workshop || 10th September

Join me for a morning of clay portraiture.
You can work from photographs, bring your own model along or a mirror and do a self-portrait!
If you want to work from photographs, make sure you take pictures of front, both sides, back and three quarters. As many angles as possible!
All materials provided, but do feel free to being your own tools if you want!
