advice re securing bikes?

Has anyone found a secure method of storing bikes outdoor at the front of the house? Or is it pretty much accepted that if someone wants to steal your bike they will find a way?

We are currently wheeling our bikes through the house so any thoughts appreciated.

I locked mine to the gas pipe next to the front door - it still got stolen - all that was left was the locked wheel.

safest inside......have even had one stolen from the back garden before.

We had one taken from outside too. They shimmied it up the post (Disabled Bay Post) and lifted it over the disabled notices - must have been tall thieves! I now keep my bike in the house - blinkin inconvenient but not as inconvenient as no bike!!
