Recommendation for Colin at Floorworks, wood floor specialist

About four months ago, I moved into an old flat with way too much carpet and weird laminate in it. I wanted to switch to wood floorboards. There were knotty pine floorboards under the carpet/laminate, but they needed a lot of work to get them into a nice state. Also luckily, I found Colin on Checkatrade (http://www.checkatrade.com/Floorworks/Reviews.aspx). Normally I prefer to use East Dulwich Forums, but couldn't find someone whose work I liked as much as Colin's.

Colin was frank and practical with his advice and took a lot of care to understand my preferences. He even did some research into the best solutions for sound insulation beneath the floorboards (second floor flat).

His colleague, Marlon, worked tirelessly to keep to the schedule we had with other work being done to the flat. And by tirelessly, I mean he got in at the crack of dawn and worked incredibly long days. I don't know how he did it.

The billing was exactly as promised and I felt the price was fair.

With getting so much work done in the flat (floorboards pulled up in 3x bedrooms, hallway, reception and kitchen), there was a significant amount of dust. Marlon and Colin did what they could about this, but really with this quantity of work, it's going to be a constant clean up. Also since we were getting a lot of other work done, it's hard to tell what dust came from where!

The result is stunning. The floorboards are just perfect. Care was taken to replace a couple of boards that were a bit off compared to the others.

Colin and Marlon are a joy to work with. They are craftsmen. The communication was also great.

I'm happy with the flat, but if I were to move and wanted floorboards done again, I'd wait however long needed to get to work with Colin and Marlon again.

Any questions, or if you'd like more photos, PM me. Will post a couple more here in a separate message as I'm running against the size limit.

    • Another recommendation for Oddbods. As proof of our satisfaction we've asked them to return for some more jobs, which is sign we were happy with their work
    • Most of the groceries shops in Lordship Lane have a security presence…curious thing is I and another woman recently saw a shop lifter lift and not pay for a couple of packet of steaks, veg and bottle of wine..  Literally walked Pat the tills, one member of staff and security guard despite someone else going in front by a few people and mentioning person in question! I have to say, speechless and admired their bravado - I would not have the guts and knowing my luck, if I accidentally didn’t put something tru the till despite receipt would prob get stopped! Yes, worked with families, homeless and other people who were struggling for food so I do understand why they do it.. sad when you think about it, that in this day and age, all sorts of c people need assistance and help from community in general, food banks, olio etc….
    • Just not keen to have all these  things  in my body… having said  that, thinking about Covid again as need to come to London to two hospitals for poss overnight stays.
    • And another one, number 6, has just gone passed as well!  I presume that the LTNs are blocking them from a more useful route. Or the surrounding road works.
