Hi, News of the day man was going to commit suicide in Peckham on the high street,it was blocked of due to the man thretenting to commit suicide he was on top of the building he was going to commit suicide. around 4pm school children were out and had to walk home due to busses not working on diversion as the road was blocked of the nearest shop was Perfect fried chicken near buger king in peckham. I didnt see if he did commit it as there was around 45 police officers and loads of vehicles.

New info :

it was a kid on top of the roof of a barbers shop oppsite the job centre threatening to jump - poor little soul. but is safe as the community wardens say.

ABC, for a period during the latish 70s, the New Musical Express letters page used to get communications from a fellow who called himself Samuel K. Ampong.

His missives were all about 'Beatles Band' and he would lament their demise and compare the groups of the day unfavourably to them.

I assumed he was a satirist and deliberately jolted sense, syntax and grammar to have a bit of crack, a right old giggle and a snicker up the sleeve at everyone's expense.

Come on ABC, admit it, you are the genius behind Samuel K. Ampong.

J'accuse.

OK, but I think in the memory of Samuel K. Ampong, who may or may not be late, let's jump over this thing.

I don't think it's too much to say that at the end of the day it all comes down to a crappy dinner an' a naggin' from the missus.

Seriously, it's the way Samuel K. Ampong would've wanted it.

I knew I missed something about being out of the area, you get Perfect Fried Chicken, we have to make do with KFC.

    • A couple of updates to this terrible event:   1) In 2021, two cousins (one from Penge and one from Streatham) were convicted of murder and sentenced to a minimum of 23 years in prison. The Southwark News has a summary of the awful day. https://southwarknews.co.uk/area/dulwich/donnell-rhule-dulwich-knife-murderer-cousins-sentenced-to-life-for-killing-18-year-old/    2) Last week, a female prison officer from Forest Hill was sentenced to eight months in prison for pursuing a relationship with one of the two murderers while at HMP Brixton. https://metro.co.uk/2025/12/15/probation-officer-admits-relationship-prisoner-hmp-belmarsh-25501445/ https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/38203627/probation-officer-jailed-illicit-relationship-murderer-secure-prison/
    • The Commons Public Accounts Committee questioned both the CEO and MD of Capita yesterday, at their last meeting before the recess:  https://committees.parliament.uk/event/25889/formal-meeting-oral-evidence-session/.  In October they'd already expressed concern that Capita might not  be able to efficiently retake over responsibility for the administration within the timescale. Given the joint statement recently issued by Capita and the Cabinet Office I'm not sure that contacting an MP is going to add much, other than venting what I think most of us can probably appreciate of what those affected are likely  to be thinking and feeling; unless perhaps, and I hope it's not needed, to report on deficiencies in the immediate rescue actions.

    • Two for Ratcliffe, the obvious one:   And one simply because it has the word  "You are nothing but blind fascists" in it.  Oh and a good song too.   Haven't listened to this for years.  Bloody good!
