THIS IS TO WARN THE LOCALS OF DULWICH ABOUT J MEADER ROOFING WHO ADVERTISE IN THE YELLOW PAGES THERE ADDRESS IS 206 UPLANDS ROAD, SE22 TELEPHONE NUMBER 02082991594

THIS IS MY STORY

I CALLED THIS ROOFING COMPANY ABOUT OUR LEAKY ROOF AND THE CHAP WHO CALLED HIMSELF JEFF ANSWERED THE PHONE, I SAID THERE WAS NO FLASHING DOWN ONE SIDE OF THE ROOF AND THAT THERE SEEMS TO BE WATER COMING IN, HE CAME ROUND, HAD A LOOK AT THE ROOF AND GAVE ME A QUOTE OF ?170 TO FIX THE PROBLEM, i ASKED HIM HE WHAT HE WOULD DO AND HE REPLIED SAYING HE WOULD PUT LEAD FLASHING UP ONE SIDE AND THAT FIX THE PROBLEM. I THOUGHT THE PRICE WAS REASONABLE SO I AGREED FOR HIM TO COME OVER AND START THE WORK, HE TURNED UP WITH SOME 6 INCH LEAD FLASHING AND PROCEEDED TO ATTACH THE LEAD FLASHING WITH WHAT I CAN ONLY DESCRIBE AS CHEAP MASTIC, THERE WAS NO CUTTING INTO THE WALL WHERE APPARANTLY ANY PROFFESSIONAL ROOFER WOULD HAVE DONE ALONG WITH USING CEMENT TO SEAL IT, THIS COWBOY ALSO MISSED TWO SECTIONS OF THE ROOF SO THERE WAS FLASHING IN PARTS AND NONE IN OTHERS. I ONLY REALIZED WHEN MY DECORATORS INSPECTED THE WORK IN MORE DETAIL AFTER THE COWBOYS HAD GONE AND NOTIFIED ME TO POOR WORKMANSHIP OF THIS ROOFING COMPANY, I IMMEDIATLY GREW SUSPICIOUS AND CONTACTED HIM TO COME BACK AND FINISH THE JOB OF WHICH HE DID COME BACK AND FILLED THE GAPS THAT HE HAD MISSED AND HE ALMOST TRIED TO CHARGE ME TO FINISH THE JOB THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN FINISHED THE FIRST TIME. A WEEK LATER THE RAIN CAME AND I NOTICED WATER COMING THROUGH AGAIN AFTER WE HAD JUST HAD THE DECORATORS IN. I HAVE RECENTLY CONTACTED ANOTHER ROOFING COMPANY WHO CAME OVER LOOKED AT THE WORK AND SAID YOU BEEN DONE MATE THEY HAVE JUST RUSHED THE JOB, NOT SEALED IT PROPERLY, NOT CUT INTO THE WALL, HAD NOT PICKED UP ON ANY OF THE CRACKED TILES,IN OTHER WORDS A BUNCH OF COWBOY ROOFERS, I HAVE NOW USED THIS ROOFER TO REPAIR THE MESS THAT THE OTHER ROOFER HAD MADE AND THANK GOD ITS NOW SEALED AND WATER TIGHT. I WOULD WARN ANYONE CONSIDERING USING J MEADER ON UPLANDS ROAD TO THINK AGAIN BEFORE CALLING THEM FOR A QUOTE OR GOING AHEAD WITH ANY WORKS AS YOU MAY SUFFER THE SAME FATE AND COULD END UP COSTING YOU DEARLY. I ENDED UP USING THIS ROOFING COMPANY CALLED J.S HATT ROOFING SERVICES WHO ARE BASED AT 113A UNDERHILL ROAD, SE22 TEL 0208 299 6042.I AM VERY SATISFIED WITH THE RESULTS BUT EQUALLY DISSAPOINTED FOR HAVING TO PAY TWICE FOR A JOB THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE ON THE FIRST OCCASION.

    • Missing Cat! 11 months old/ Our friend, Coco, has gone missing. Last seen evening of 31st October near top of Henslowe rd where it meets Underhill Rd in SE22. We know she has started wandering up Friern Rd and further we guess but we imagine she has been spooked by Halloween / Fireworks goings on. She is a grey Siberian mix with some brown stripes down her, very friendly and likes to eat. Please let us know
    • That said, organised displays could be on Saturday before and after and the actual day, and private ones could just not have the loud ones.  It’s all down to accessibility and people caring/not caring
    • The problem this year is that 5th November falls on a Wednesday. So some places will be bringing their "bonfire night" forward to Saturday 1st and some will be knocking it back to Saturday 8th and there'll probably be a few that just go with Wednesday 5th anyway. If you're doing a public display, having it on a weekend gets more crowds. Which basically means a solid week of fireworks.
    • Fireworks in this area do feel totally incessant at this time of year, almost every evening there is terrible noise. I feel great concern for wildlife, pets (I have a senior cat who hates them), as well as people who struggle with PTSD etc. Last year I even had people setting them off in front of my home. Tonight and yesterday evening have been particularly bad. Is there anything we can do as a community to prevent this? What action can we take? Surely we shouldn’t be expected to just put up with it every year for weeks on end!
