Just did the digital neighbourhoods survey and noticed (not with great annoyance, more amusement) that under the occupation question, the closest thing to what I do (full-time mum) was described as 'looking after the home'. Made me chuckle as in reality that's the LAST thing I'm doing when looking after small demonic 13 month old! I know it was traditionally described as housewife, but really - looking after the home! Thought councils had to be v right on!
Perhaps its more of a general occupation rather than implying you are a full time parent - i mean u may not have children, are not a lay about or are a homemaker I dunno. The whole q was silly as it certainly didnt cover many other levels of employment either *shrugs*

I thought the question about 'is the forum friendly' (or something like that) was a tricky one....in the end I wrote a comment at the end to say that I felt the Family Room was generally very friendly (exclusing a certain recent thread), but that other parts of the forum tended to be less so.

Molly

With you on that one Molly. I generally feel quite welcome/secure/warm and cosy writing here (in the Family room), but get quite anxious when I venture to the ED issues or the Lounge - especially the Lounge.

Big chicken me! ;-)

    • A slightly vulnerable but hopeful post… Hi everyone, I’m a guy in my mid-thirties who’s recently moved back to London and East Dulwich (I previously lived here for many years before, so I know the area well). But if I’m honest, I’ve found the return a little tough. Most of my close friends have moved out of London to start families — totally understandable — but it’s left me feeling a bit adrift and not quite sure how to make new connections again. Work has taken up a huge chunk of my life in recent years, and I’ve definitely let hobbies, interests and a proper social life fall by the wayside. I feel like I went from a fun social life in my 20’s to suddenly blinking and realising things had gone a bit er…quiet. So, I’m trying to redress the balance a bit — mainly so myself and my partner don’t murder each other 😂, and just to meet some new local faces. I was wondering: is anyone else in a similar boat? And would there be any interest in starting a relaxed, low-key local social group? Could be a casual pub meet, sports, park hangouts, live comedy nights — open to ideas!  I’m happy to do the organising/admin side of things — just wanted to put it out there and see if there’s any appetite. I’ll gauge interest and take it from there.  If you’d prefer not to reply publicly, feel free to drop me a DM.  Cheers all! 👋
    • It's Inner London. You could move somewhere else?
    • They are people.  That's how people often behave.
    • Same reason there are several pizza places and Indian restaurants?
