I'm trying to get an old dell laptop up and running to give to someone. I want to test the internet on it but seen unable to connect it wirelessly as I don't have the above. I have a password for the network but it's the above I need it seems. Any research I've done seems to lead to finding the password I already have but not what I'm being asked for.

Anyone know please?

PS This should be in the Lounge. Hopefully it will be moved.

You need an ethernet cable to connect the laptop to the modem. That in itself gives you potential internet access. It'll also enable you to access the modem's browser interface, where you can see/change the wi-fi password to test the wi-fi as well. You'll need the modem's admin login name and password. Their default values (maybe admin and password), and the modem's IP address (maybe 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1) to enter in the browser, are easily findable in the manual, which will probably also be on the net. I'm not sure which password you already have.

    • What is it that makes Waitrose so special! Admittedly I have shopped a couple of times in the Orpington and Beckenham one - sometimes buying food which I cannot get else where. Their 'basic range' is not bad. Price for price and quality - M & S.

    • Hi, Thinking about  going with some friends and was just wondering if folk might like to report back please. Most importantly sound level when busy & is it disabled friendly.  Thinking on a Sunday lunchtime but don’t want a busy busy environment or loud chatter - a couple of friends could not cope. Time can be flexible, if that helps - say 2 ish to avoid above.. Thanks…
