I think the article was written when ED still felt a bit more creative/alternative rather than the more Clapham escapee type feel it has now, although it still retians both and I'm not making any judgement. Just I think it's full of yuppie scum...er, joke.

When I moved to ED 9 years ago, I too had heard the Stokey comparisons. In fact we had been looking in Stokey for a good few months but couldn't find anywhere for our money. But having spent many a day/evening there it was fairly easy to see how those comparisons were made when we first walked up LL

Weirdly was reading this this morning about toll-bars in 1857 and also thought plus ca change. Change the year to 2006+ and toll gates to councils, parking schemes, speed cameras etc and this could be the forum today
