Having reluctantly forked out for a Bugaboo Bee for my first baby I'm now wondering if it's worth spending money on summer accessories?

The options are a 'breezy sun canopy' to replace the normal one, a 'UV sunshade' (freaky looking) and parasol. Are any of these neccessary? I'm thinking I can probably get away with the normal hood and suncreams in our climate, however am also planning a trip to Singapore to visit a friend for a month or so in the autumn. Perhaps it's worth investing in the sunshade but it looks so weird and I'm not sure how fun it would be to actually sit inside one of these!

Would appreciate some comments from Bugaboo Bee owners.

Thanks!

Don't have a bee, but UV sunshades in general are very good and a godsend if you are in mega sunshine, especially with a youngish baby you can cover in suncream. Most of them are made so it is quite hard to see in, but when inside it is fine to see out if that makes sense. Much nicer than having sun glaring in your eyes.

Parasols generally a waste of time - look pretty but unless parked up they don't block the sun unless you stock every few paces to adjust them, and if windy often get blown all over/broken.

Hiya, we had the "breezy" sun canopy, which was a pain to put on, and didn't provide any more shade than the normal cover, but I quite liked it on the (few) hot days, and it tended to stay on for a while and was also fine on dull days. Also quite liked the parasol, despite all the faff, in fact I quite enjoyed stopping to adjust it often as could smile and gawp at my (then quite new) baby! Was obsessed with making sure she was in the shade at all times and the angle of the sun. Those were the days, she would lie there in her pram in a happy way rather than screaming in disgust whenever restrained!

My husband hated all of the accessories, and the cost did add up. The sun canopy is definitely not essential, but some kind of device to provide shade will probably save stress.

What I really wanted was a drinks holder, but refused to pay ?15 for the Bugaboo one!

Suspect that some of the "universal" accessories, e.g. parasols, might fit fine, and are substantially cheaper than the Bugaboo ones.

    • I can't answer your question. But on them generally: it's changed hands in the last year or so, I think. I paid £35 for interior and exterior and they did a crap job. I'll go to the one on Herne Hill (or just do it myself if health allows) next time.
    • Aria came round to fix my tub drain when I'd messed up the seal. Came within hours, fixed the tub, and ran a bath to make sure it was okay. Here's where the fun starts. While he was over, I asked him questions about the rest of the plumbing round the house. I had just moved into a Victorian home that was previously being rented. Unsurprisingly, we found another leak in the tub and a drip in the kitchen tap.  He came back the next day to put a better pipe in my bathtub and replace the kitchen sink. Painstakingly figured out how to replace the hard-to-access kitchen sink without cutting through the wood panel with the help of his builder friend, Mark. Answered all my questions and clearly knew his stuff. All this right before Christmas holidays!
