graceglow
We want to explore modern Britain?s relationship with food. Do you cook for your household? We want to hear from you! Food plays an important role in our lives - what we eat, when we eat, and who we eat with is a huge part of what makes up our day to day living. We?re looking for stories from all across the UK, from all different households. We want to hear from people who eat together as a house, and hear about what role food plays in your life. You don?t have to be a professional foodie, just someone who cares about eating, and makes the time to cook. Perhaps you sit down to a big meal and touch base with your family every Sunday, maybe you live in a house share and have a rota for who cooks the communal meal, possibly you have a large circle of friends and you love to host and try out new recipes. Whatever your story, if you enjoy cooking and sharing food with your friends and/or family, we?d love to speak to you and hear about your life. This is for a series of short films we are making for a British supermarket to help them understand their customers better. At this stage we're just looking to chat to people on the phone. For the final films we?d love to film people cooking at home, and talking about their relationship with food. Everyone involved in the final films will have their food shop compensated. If this sounds like you and you're interested in hearing more about this, get in touch with Grace or Eleanor from Glow In The Dark Films:[email protected]www.glow-films.comWe're looking forward to hearing from you! Blah Blah
Why don't the supermarket just do market research like every other company? Why would they want short films made for that purpose? It doesn't make sense to me. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/106714-food-documentary-casting-call/#findComment-998340 Share on other sites
Horsebox
I can't say that I've ever 'touched base' with my family. If the day comes when I ever suggest it, I fully expect my wife to engage in a touch of blue-sky thinking and consciously uncouple from me. Elphinstone's Army
I am desperately hoping the supermarket client is the Coop, I think we should be told Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/106714-food-documentary-casting-call/#findComment-998649 Share on other sites

Blah Blah
This is why I asked my question. This sounds like advertising for the supermarket in question (for which the filmmakers are being paid). Clients pay on average ?60 for a couple of hours of peoples time to take part in research/ focus groups. They are never turned into short films - why would they be? If a business wants to understand its customer base better, it employs a research company. Is the end aim to make a series of adverts for the supermarket? And if so, participants should be paid just as they would be for any commercial. Would help if the OP returned to the thread to clarify. Jeremy
I reckon I could manage a food shop worth much more than ?60!I'm sure if you're interested enough to get in touch with the OP, they can answer all your questions. This is a type Ethnographic research and is quite widely used in research and is NOT advertising...still shouldn't be in lounge tho Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/106714-food-documentary-casting-call/#findComment-999132 Share on other sites

????
it's "customer closeness" - by seeing how people use/relate to "food" more generally, in their own words and lives, rather than in a focus group/survey - clients hope to gain insights to how to market to them...as an ethnographic researcher might say :) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/106714-food-documentary-casting-call/#findComment-999255 Share on other sites
Blah Blah
Interesting approach. I take back most of what I posted then, as I was clearly being suspicious of nothing :) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/106714-food-documentary-casting-call/#findComment-999335 Share on other sites
