GCSE Maths English and Science Tuition

Recommended Posts

My name is Lydia and I am a Maths, Science and English tutor with 5 years of experience with students from KS1 (primary school) up to GCSEs.

On beginning a course of tuition with your child I aim to quickly build a good rapport, which then enables us to work together to get to the root of any issues with the subject.

I believe that the main benefit of private tuition is the complete flexibility it allows, and I therefore ensure my lessons continually adapt to the changing needs of the student. For many, it is this individual attention that can make all the difference to their exam success.

As well as providing 1-to-1 personal tuition for the past 5 years, I am also the Maths and Science teacher at a small centre for boys who have been excluded from mainstream school. The contrast in the needs of my students has enabled me to further develop techniques for engaging young people who have lost interest in education, or lost confidence in their own abilities.

I am currently studying for a degree in Social Anthropology from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), and I feel that by being in education myself I am in a great position to relate to students struggling with their own exams.

Prior to university, I worked in the Department for Education, providing briefings to ministers on education related topics for Parliamentary and media appearances.

I am available now for tuition in the run-up to summer exams. If your child will be sitting exams next year, they are likely to find tuition over summer helpful - this will build their subject confidence, study skills and content knowledge in preparation for the challenging year ahead.

I promise I make tuition enjoyable and students generally look forward to our lessons!

For students starting before this September, I am offering a rate of ?30 per hour. This includes my travel to your home, or a local cafe/library if you would prefer.

I can provide full references and a DBS check on request.

If you feel I could be the tutor to help your child, please don't hesitate to get in touch - both gumtree mail and my mobile are fine.
