A lot of people who live near the Southwark/Lewisham border have applied to schools in both boroughs. Lewisham published their offers yesterday, any offers need to be accepted or declined by 5 May. Southwark won't publish their offers until 10 May. So - if you were offered a place in Lewisham does that mean you won't get offered a place in Southwark? Or could you get an offer from both boroughs? If would be very useful to know. I did phone Southwark Admissions to ask them but unfortunately am none the wiser (I don't think the person I spoke to knew).

I'd ask Lewisham. I have a feeling they are a bit more together!

But if in doubt, you really HAVE to accept the Lewisham place, can hardly risk refusing it.

But unless Lewisham or the central system advises Southwark you have accepted the place, Southwark will still have you in the system here, won't they?

I rang Lewisham, they are much more together than Southwark, and their website is better, too! I was told that Southwark and Lewisham have not exchanged information yet, so it is now a matter of waiting for 10 May, and no need to panic yet.

I suspect a lot of people are going to ignore the 5 May deadline until they hear from Southwark on 10 May....?

    • That is almost too ridiculous to answer but I'll take the bait. You are comparing a national charity with one branch of a small charity. Cats Protection has around 34 dedicated rehoming centres. CHAT has two, Lewisham & Canning Town and a sanctuary in Sussex. So if Cats Protection have homed 34,000 cats, thats an average of 1000 per branch. From memory this years total so far for Lewisham CHAT was over 980. I saw a few homed this weekend so we may well reach 1000 for this year. The same as Cats Protection. No need for head scratching.
    • Actually, if it was factory fitted then it's location would be documented. It's the fact that it can be fitted in different places which means that it's difficult for thieves to locate.
    • OK, good suggestion and it appears that the after-market price is about £260. But if that that was fitted ex-factory then the cost would be substantially less and certainly a small fraction of the price of a high-end car.
