Hello!

My nearly 15 month old daughter started sleeping through (some/most nights) a couple of months ago (yay!). However she has been waking up for the day increasingly earlier. I had resigned myself to 5.30ish. 3 days a week we have to get up at 6 anyway for work. Plus it's such great progress considering she was waking up every 3 hours until she was 10 months. However she's not woken later than 5 for about 2 weeks and the last 2 mornings it's been 4.30!

I try bringing her into our bed but she just wants to play. The room is very dark so don't think it's that...

Any advice or even reasurance that it's just a stage and will pass soon (preferably before she starts school!). I'm not really a leave her to cry sort of parent (no criticism intended!)- yet!

My daughter went through a stage of doing this.

Do you have any toys at the bottom of her cot? I used to put a few in and my daughter would happily play with these for a while and more often than not she'd fall back to sleep after a little play. I found things like stacking cups and pictures books kept her happy :)

The Dawn Chorus is very loud at the moment - and will remain so until well into June. When mine were young this always made for an early start for everyone. Very often kids have the rooms at the back looking over the garden where the chorus is much louder than on the street side. Like all things with kids - it will pass....and be replaced by something equally frustrating!!!
My son (16 months) slept till 8 am while we were away from London (Cornwall, then Italy) and had a 3 hour nap in the afternoon. We didn't do anything extra tiring... on the contrary. But the moment we got back to London, it's back to 6 am and nap is 1 - 1 1/2 hour. I blame the bloody planes! They are so loud above our house... What can I do?! Shoot them on sight? Explode another volcano in Iceland? The thing is doubly frustrating: I hate waking so early and not having much time during the day AND I feel he needs that extra sleep, which he doesn't get at home. So I suspect, he is he always tired... I AM moving, that's for sure!

    • The space between Tesco Express and Dulwich Trader on Croxted Rd is now Chococo. It's basically a hot chocolate and coffee bar, as far as I can see. It was pleasingly busy with kids and parents when I passed by! https://www.chococo.co.uk/our-chocolate-houses/dulwich
    • I recently sent my granddaughter a birthday card. I posted it really early to make sure it got delivered in time. Over two weeks  later it still  hasn't arrived,  and in retrospect I think I shouldn't have put "Do not open until 12 February" on the back of the envelope. I really hope I'm wrong, and I have a suspicious mind, but I wonder if someone somewhere in the postal system thought there was money in it 🙄 Obviously there wasn't, I'm stupid but not that stupid, she got her birthday money by BACS.
    • Anyone see news last night? Topic was postal deliveries or lack of them.  Sites an example of postie going on two weeks hols and no back up or temp in place. Showed delivery room packed with letters waiting! Parcels get top priority. Amazing isn’t it as unemployment figures have risen.. wouldn’t have thought it was rocket science  to utilise some of these unemployed folk to help out. Get fresh air, fitter, more than dole  and surely can follow a round since most people are glued to their mobiles. Maybe not happening because of union and can’t imagine they need a dbs! Umm..
