Yes there is such a thing as vegan dining in SE22, although it is completely dining within the confines of ones own abode.

SE22 is good for vegan ingreds though - I'd recommend SMBS. I suspect this is not the answer you'd have liked.

Smbs is the grocer opposite barclays bank on lord ship lane. Excellent range of vegan meals and ingredients. Nice guys too

There is a Vegan Thai in Dulwich. Well almost, Dulwich Hill Australia! BTW SMBS great shop, what ED is all about.

Furryjumpergirl, there is a vegan cafe in crystal palace called Spiritual Palace (not sure of name of the road). The lady who owns it has been trading for about 2 years and has had great reviews on the standard of her food in Time Out magazine. I have been there on numerous occasions and find the food excellent and very good value for money. You can also request food to be made up for you to take away. I'm sorry I can't be more helpful in giving you an exact address but I can give you the owner's mobile number via a private message.

Don't forget Shahee Bhelpoori in Norbury - near Streatham. It's worth the drive - all veggie Indian with loads of vegan options. Best Indian in London I reckon.

It's on the main road just next to the railway bridge, about 2 minutes from Norbury station. London Road I think (?) They do a ?5 buffet for Sunday lunch which is great too. And they are so nice. Wish we had one like this in East Dulwich.

Lamoon (Chinese) on Denmark Hill has quite a few vegan options and the food is really excellent - far above take-away standard, although that is an option.

I'll back what Heatherlee says, with an added recommendation for their delivery service. They seem to do a lot more steaming than frying; the food feels much fresher and lighter.

I don't speak mandarin so lets just say molto bueno.

Heather and UC - there was a mini thread on chines takeways a while back with no-one really being outstanding. I don't recall Lamoon being mentions but I pass them daily on the bus and did wonder - cheers for the recommendation

My only worry is that they may not deliver as far as the Upper East Side :(

Yes, I was hoping for a bun fight but did not get one.

Actually I hate it when people say "X is the best ------ in London". How on earth do they know? Have they been everywhere in London? So I will retract my silly statement. I would say that it's by far my favourite Indian restaurant - the food tastes wonderfully fresh and flavoursome (none of that straight-out-of-a-jar stuff you get in lots of Indian restaurants), they have lots of local specialities (delicious dosas), they are so polite & welcoming AND incredibly good value. They deserve great custom because they obviously work so hard, and it shows.

I think the reason the bun fight did not happen was the fact that "curry houses" have been a regular topic since the forum started and maybe some fatigue had set in. I think it has been said that a new bote for "best" will be happening soon tho
