The WordPlay team (myself and Leon) run radio, podcast & audio projects for children ? some of your kids may have already scripted & performed their very own radio plays at our radio workshops or they may have created their own podcast at one of our clubs.

Our next exciting podcast project is being held at The Ivy House starting Tuesday 26th July.

We are running a four day summer podcast club for children aged 8-16 at The Ivy House and the theme will be ?LOCAL?! So we invite the local kids to interpret this any way they like, and working together as a group, they will produce a podcast including all the jingles & idents, conducting their own interviews and reports, and trails/adverts.

The podcast course will be held at The Ivy House on the following dates from 11am-1pm:

Tuesday 26th July

Wednesday 27th July

Tuesday 2nd August

Wednesday 3rd August

By the end of the 4 days, the children in the club will have created their very own podcast episode which we will post online for all to hear!

Tickets cost ?50 per child for the whole course, but if two children book together, it will cost only ?40 each (or ?80 for the pair), so get your child to bring a friend along and you will receive a lovely discount!

Spaces are limited so do book ASAP if your children would like to get involved in local podcasting ? for the children, by the children!

Just to get your audio juices flowing, here?s a very short clip of two young hosts interviewing their brother, Noah, on his view on immigration. At a recent WordPlay club, Indigo & Lola decided their podcast should be about the news, all from the perspective of 12 year olds:

Their full episode will be up on our website shortly, so stay tuned!

For more info about what we do, head to our website http://www.wordplayeducation.co.uk/ and to buy your ticket, visit the events page http://www.wordplayeducation.co.uk/events

We look forward to hearing from you and your lovely creative (and talkative) children!

    • It's taken time to see the legacy of Thatcher's free market policy but we're really seeing it now with utilities, housing and infrastructure 😢.  I think I've remembered correctly that on Dirty Business they said we are the only country in the world to have our water supply totally privately owned.   When it gets taken back into public ownership the private owners will rub their hands together with glee having withdrawn massive profits and bonuses over the last 30 + years, let the infrastructure go to pot and now have the taxpayer come back in after this long period of neglect and pay for the failing systems to be rebuilt.  If you think those companies will suffer at the hands of government then you have more faith than I.  Thatcherism has a lot to answer for ☹️
    • what's scandalous is our government allowing it. The should and can impose fines and order works which would lead to TW becoming bankrupt, at which point it can be taken back into the public domain.
    • The privatisation of water is just ridiculous. I have the Safer seas and rivers service app on my phone (recommend it if you like to swim outside) and the regular (weekly) sewage dumps highlighted all along the south coast is just outrageous.
