False recommendations

Hello,

I thought it worth for you to know that I have unfortunately fell victim to a scam Plumper, called "Rick with mobile number 0772106037, he took ?510 for almost nothing , the reason I have called him for a job is because of the numerous recommendations and positive feedback i read about him , but obviously they all seem to be false and fabricated to trap people

My experience with Rick :

I called him on Friday he answered and was polite and enthusiastic about the job , come after couple of hours , view the jobs needed , and gave me appointment to come next day , he came after an hour and half delay ,he said needs to buy the materiel parts from a shop he knows in Nunhead MKK that give him good discount,, I trusted him (foolishly ) and gave him what he asked ?300 to buy the stuff , I asked him to bring receipts , but he never did , he is done the job so quickly and badly ( discovered after-would)and asked for ?250 for labour , i gave him , there were one job he still need to do he said he will be back tomorrow , but he never showed up the next day , i called him & text him several time but never responded,

Maybe i trusted him because of the way he approached the whole thing and that he is "local" posted on East Dulwich Forum , I understand it IS foolish to think so , I have learnt my lesson , however ,I needed to share this with the forum so they do not fell in such a trap ,and not because someone has been recommended means its genuine !

If you click on the name of the 'recommender' you can see their number of posts. Be wary of recommendations from people with a small number of posts.

Those recommenders with a handful of posts you can also see all posts by that person - quite often they have posted their 'recommendations' for the same person 4 or 5 times, and that is all they've posted.

    • I’m not sure how many other people have experienced this; but both me and one of my friends have the same story. Around Crawthew Grove and Crystal Palace Road: I was followed by a large fox right on my heel. At first I didn’t notice because I had my headphones on, but then I noticed my shadow had an extra lump in it, funnily enough, it was a fox, very very close to my feet. Even if I sped up walking it just tried to get closer - it was quite frightening actually, it was quite clear that it wanted to nip me. I didn’t know what to do so, I started to reprimand the fox and walked slowly away from it, facing it - which it didn’t seem to like and backed off a bit. I then proceeded to speed-walk away.   Quite frankly, the whole situation was quite embarrassing and a little bit frightful as I’d never had a fox even come up to me. I’ve heard of particularly curious foxes that might come up to someone who beckons them, and maybe even bite that person, but I’ve never heard of a fox chasing someone. The amount of confidence that it had was incredible.    When it happened, I was on the way to see some friends, and once I had told one of them, she told me the same thing happened to her.  if anyone else knows anything about this bitey fox then let me know!
    • Another recommendation for Andy. I needed an old kitchen removed as an emergency. Andy came over quickly and did a fantastic job. I have used Andy a few times. He is punctual, helpful and always does an  excellent job.
