Bike Train Wednesday July 27th

Recommended Posts

No more trains? Take matters into your own hands and join the Bike Train.

We are free, cheerful and reliable.

We leave Nunhead at 8am, Denmark Hill and Peckham Rye stations at 8.10am. At Denmark Hill we leave from the cafe in Windsor Walk led by Liz Eden (07814 515 715) and arrive at Blackfriars at 8.45am. The meeting point at Peckham Rye is the bike stands behind McDonalds. From there riders are taken on individually (if they want) and destinations so far include Faringdon, Kings Cross, Westminster, Mayfair and Tower Hill.

Our route takes in two parks, a traffic-calmed backstreet, the cycling-on-the-pavement lanes on the New Kent Road, the Elephant and Castle by-pass and then the new TfL segregation. Fanastisch (Dutch)

Entirely free and all welcome. To join in Nunhead or Peckham text me on 07842 640 207 or just turn up.

The route is here:

    • Back to my earlier post about familiarity.  I was in Croydon this afternoon walking between the two main stations.  Didn't feel unsafe, but there were some 'interesting' characters on the street.  Not that any were bothered with me. Not a place I'd choose to go for a bit of a fun.  Although having said that West Croydon has some cracking restaurants and the wonderfully named Saints and Sinners bar, where I once went on a corporate do - not that I did many of these. Whoops just checked and it closed a few months ago. Back on track, I never went to the Castle as I felt it was a bit rough.  How wrong was I?  Only real pub left in the area.
    • Wow Sue! I was reading your post with interest as I’ve never really felt unsafe in London and I was born here. It was just your last paragraph that derailed me and totally changed the subject matter! So unnecessary.
    • What made you think it was lost?
    • I'm pretty sure I saw him today near the junction of Lordship Lane and Dulwich common standing by the crossing near the entrance to the woods. Wearing a black trench coat , black trousers and dark timberland style boots his clothes looked somewhat worn and he was looking pretty wild eyed..I was in a car going by and I noticed him standing by the kerb looking somewhat aggrivated. other women please be aware
