Decluttering advice please!!

Hi there,

I am currently trying to declutter our house and realise just how many "congratulations on your baby" cards and subsequent child birthday cards we have! Do people keep these or throw them out? I find myself feeling guilty about my desire to put most of them in the bin!

I would be interested to hear about what other people do. Thanks!

Throw out one you have replied with all your thank you letters surely? Cant believe you kept them more than a few weeks? Unless you are using them for a craft activity? Chuck 'em!

Kept all the congrats on your babies cards and chucked most of the rest (though am a sentimental nut).

When I'm organised enough (which isn't often) I arrange some of the birthday cards for a particular birthday and just take one photo of the lot. Then chuck... Do the same with accumulated collections of baby/boy shoes - although these go the the shoe reuse/recycle thingy.

I deal with the guilt by cutting images off all cards I like, incl lovely birthday and Christmas cards , punching a hole in them and turning them into gift tags with a bit of raffia ribbon. Sounds 'crafty', which I'm not, but I have a tin full of lovely gift tags for all occasions, saving about 50p each time.

Now I don't feel the cards are wasted...result!
