I have two mattresses and an old cooker that I need to throw away.

Southwark Council should do this for free (certainly the mattresses they will), you just have to go online and book a slot. The items need to be left outside your property and clearly labelled with the Ref number they give you, so maybe just get someone to take them outside for you if you can't do it yourself. At least this way you know the items aren't going to be flytipped somewhere local...

They don't do it for free anymore. It's ?16 a collection and has been for months.

Yep, I stand corrected, it changed last December.

There was loads of fly tipping before the charge came in and even more afterwards. Have noticed that it appears regularly and also disappears regularly, in my area, usually within 24 hours. I have reported a few incidents.
