I trawled the headings for funeral music/songs and found one from 2007, which didn't feel right to resurrect,

as it had naturally laid itself to rest, so here is a new one, and hope that no one is put out.

As I am destined for the fiery furnace, my choice of song is Soulsavers, with the sonorous voice of Mark Lanegan, joined by the ethereal voice of Red Ghost, representing the spirit, with You will Miss me When I Burn, and to make sure everyone is suitably mollified, as they leave the crematorium sobbing, Barber's Adagio for Strings.

However, if my children defy me and I am in a coffin, I want the Stones 'Can't you hear me knocking?'

hello Otta, it isn't just today !

This is a mood, triggered by waiting at the bus stop outside the Coop funeral directors, absorbing the dullness of it all, po faced men in tall hats and cliched rhetoric, whilst musing - this is a rites of passage for us when a loved one dies, and further musing - why isn't it more spectacular?

Anyway, I thought the last line of my OP was really funny.

I am never going to die, I am only going to fade away.........

    • You've revived a 16 year old thread to plug your business?! I'm genuinely impressed!
    • Jon and his Team came over today to clear two gutters at front of the house.  Job completed professionally and quickly, very friendly and reasonable prices.  Will be using again in the future. Highly recommend.    Jon - 07908 953257 https://www.jonsmithscleaningservices.co.uk
    • In deed.   An hour is optimistic. I'd always use the train/tube, so many options from the slowish Picadilly, quick Heathrow Express and Lizzy line in the middle. In the old days I'd go out to Feltham via Clapham Junction and either get a cab from there or the bus to avoid central London Alternatively 3 hours by bus only Or a couple of hours by bike, I have cycled there a few times including illegally going through the tunnel as it is so bike unfriendly.
    • I think it's unfair to say anyone local enquiring, is the same rubbernecking.  The link you posted is for drivers, and those there, not involved, at an incident, and in particular people who photograph and video accidents.  This is not the same.  We all want to know what is happening in our area, particularly if it's about safety.  Isn't that what this forum is for?  I hope the girl and the biker are okay.
