I hope you don't mind me posting this here but we are trying to contact as diverse a range of people as possible in order to get responses. Thanks! Sarah

ARE YOU GOING ON HOLIDAY IN BRITAIN THIS YEAR?

Then we?d love to speak with you!

BBC2 is making a 60-minute documentary about British families going on holiday in the UK this summer. Over the last year, the number of British families holidaying in the UK has risen by seven million. We feel a film about this growing trend will give us a wonderful, warm and engaging glimpse into our country in 2010 ? and we hope that taking part in the making of the documentary will be a lot of fun.

We would film you embarking on and returning from your holiday ? but we would not ruin your hols by filming you on the holiday itself!

Instead, we would show your children how to use small digital cameras, for them to keep a video diary of their holidays. We would then aim to include some of their work in the completed programme on BBC2.

We are currently seeking:

* families with an interesting reason for going on holiday e.g. recent bereavement, step families taking a first holiday

* separated fathers taking the children on holiday - mums if your ex-partner is taking the kids for a few days please pass the message on

* mixed race families

* a father and son(s)

* extended families

Requirements:

* the holiday must be in the UK

* taken in August or very late July

* destination must be at least a 2 hour drive in the car

* the family should be in the same vehicle

If you would like to find out more, please do get in touch with assistant producer Marco Crivellari in BBC Documentaries.

    • I haven't had a rude EVRI delivery but last week I had an unexpected delivery at 10.42 pm. He didn't ring the bell or knock on the door (or rattle the letter flap) but just took a photo and put the box down.  If it hadnt been for the door camera giving us a beep we would never have known there was a parcel ready to sit there all night.
    • Sorry if I’m being slow but there’s no point in having a gate then is there?  Would have thought it was basic manners to respect someone’s property
    • I didn't say wedge it "slightly" open. I meant to wedge it fully open.
    • I have a rescue Spanish greyhound (galgo) from the charity mentioned above. You can contact Greyhounds in Need or one of the more local Kent greyhound rescue charities. They are fantastic family dogs. They do love walkies 2 or 3 times a day but they actually don't need to be walked too far and then they will happily loaf around on the sofa being very chill. They are brilliant with kids but not recommended if you own a cat as they have a strong prey drive. They also should be kept on the lead in local parks. They prefer to be around other sight-hounds (well my one does) and there are loads of local sighthound owners in Peckham, Crystal Palace etc and a very lively WhatsApp group that is brilliant if you need dog sitting as you can usually find someone to do that for free in return for you looking after the dog at a later date etc.
