Good heavens no, unless you're doing insane mileages a decent tyre should last about five years/30,000 miles on a normal car. Either you're being badly ripped off or there's something wrong with your car's tracking/balancing causing severely uneven tyre wear. Check them yourself before taking the car in, 1.6mm or above is the legal minimum: put a 20p coin in the tread and if you can't see the edge of the outer band they're legal (though bear in mind this has to be all the way round the tyre and across the central 75% of its width, and it's generally recommended to change tyres when they get to around 2.5mm depth). We had an argument with an MOT station which tried to get us to change 5000 mile old tyres with 6mm+ of tread depth on them!

thank you,, so i checked my mileage and this MOT year did 7,058 miles and year before i did 8,359 miles. Advisories on this MOT nail in tyre nearside (i can get repaired) nearside and offside front (tyre bald on inner and outer edge.

so yes maybe my tracking is off or dodgy tyres,, wonder if tracking would be checked on MOT
