Main Post Office closed

I realise this is far too late to be of much use to anybody, but the main Post Office in Lordship Lane is closed.

It has a sign in the window that there is some technical fault, or words to that effect, and no indication when it might reopen.

If its data links are down or problematical it would be difficult for it to operate. Without them it could only sell stamps (maybe not even that if the tills are compromised as well - everything is data linked nowadays).

Sod's law that the one time in about a zillion years I have a paper cheque to pay in, I can't!

I'm with First Direct, used to do stuff like that at HSBC which has now gone, and evidently you can pay in FD cheques at Post Office branches.

Or of course not, if they are closed.

Apparently there were a few post offices in the area closed today - the one on Forest Hill Road was open, but with long queues, I felt sorry for the lady working there!

I pop my chequers in the post to First Direct, or go to HSBC Rye Lane - open until 5 pm.

Thanks, but the Post Office is much more convenient than Rye Lane for me, and I don't like posting cheques in case they get lost.

Anyone know if the Lordship Lane post office has reopened?

Yes. It was open this morning.
