Rather strange occurrence, thought I'd give a heads up.

Dropped my wife off in the car to go to William Rose around 5pm this afternoon. Not long had the door been shut a young, slightly dishevelled looking lady opened the passenger door and asked to be taken to Heathrow. Told her I wasn't a taxi at which point she said 'No, I need you to take me to Heathrow' and started to get in the car. Given the fact that a Fiat would make a crap taxi anyway and she had no bags my alarm bells went off. Not really fancying having her in the car I quickly accelerated a couple of feet before braking so she lost her footing and moved away. Shut the door, drove up the street a few yards and called 101 and reported it. Tried to keep an eye on her until the police arrived but she walked off up Blackwater Street rather quickly.

Soon after I realised my wifes laptop bag and my phone were in the passenger footwell so she may have spotted them and been after those.

Thought it worth a heads up. She was probably late twenties, black and in dark ripped & grubby clothing.

    • To be fair, a pot of tea for one in a department store is a small pot, and you only get one cup or mug!
    • I know - we have been here lots of times since it first opened,  which is why we were disappointed that it was closed at a time it was supposed to be open, but with no notice to say why! I guess we will just  have to ask the reason at our next visit, but I'm not sure we will risk Saturday lunchtime again unless we find the closure  was an unavoidable one off ....
    • Nope. I don’t have this wrong. I’ve tried to put my point across respectfully, without resorting to personal, angry insults. And all my colleagues agree that the BBC got this right in its condemnation.    All you see is confirmation bias.    If you don’t realise that, then you’re part of the problem.
    • We have always gone during the week at lunch time - great place and good value. Husband has been several times on his own and owner knows his first name. I could not go one time for some reason and she sent him home with some spring rolls (free)
