In desperate need of a haircut!

Zoe TB

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have a slight phobia of getting my hair cut. I'm not sure what it is that I dislike but the whole notion of going to the hairdressers slightly freaks me out.

Anyway, I am getting real fed up with my long lanky hair and need a decent (but cheapish) haircut!

I've been to a few round ED but not very happy with the cut so I tend to just not go..

Has anyone got any good suggestions which will not cost me a day's worth of work to get a little trim or even a restyle!?

Any tips and recommendations very welcome. If you could see my split ends, you would cringe!

Thanks a lot,

Zoe

I think it's one of those things where you get what you pay for.

I went to Kuki on Bellenden once on the recommendations of people here. I had the worst haircut I've ever had. The stylist reeked of cigarettes, kept her coat on, didn't speak to me and left me with a very uneven cut that I had to get rectified.

Instead, I love Myla + Davis. Sure, it costs more, but it was worth it.

Try Lily hair, she works from her home, or yours. Special offer for first timers-if you search on here you'll find her. I'll be going back for my second cut soon!

Details from her OP

All my prices can be found on my website www.lilyshair.co.uk or my business Facebook page Lily's Hair but a wash cut and finish is ?35. First time bookings receive a 20% discount therefore it would be ?28. I offer a Loyalty Scheme (five haircuts and sixth free) and Friend's Referral Scheme, refer a friend and you both receive 20% off booked appointment. Look forward to meeting you!

That does not sound like anybody at Kuki to me.

Who was this stylist?

I have never seen anybody there fitting that description, and I am quite sure none of them "reeks of cigarettes".

There are pages and pages of posts on here praising Kuki, and Shingo in particular.

I and other people I know have always had really excellent cuts at Kuki. I have had people stop me in the street asking me where I get my hair cut.

Perhaps you could be more specific as to exactly who this was and when?

ETA:Are you sure you are not confusing Kuki with some other salon?

I agree with the above post re Kuki. I have been going to Kuki's since it opened, would not think of going anywhere else and never had a bad experience. All who work there are terrific hairdressers, together with being pleasant and professional. In fact, I rather think that the person has got Kuki's mixed up with another hairdressers. Like the person who replied to the negative thread, I too have had people ask where I got my hair cut.

    • Is Dell Autos closing down completely or just moving? For whatever it's worth, for MOTs I've had good recent experience with The Test Centre in Deptford. They only do MOTs so they don't have any particular incentive to fail you and they usually have same day appointments. Open 7 days a week and late. https://www.thetestcentre.co.uk/our-test-centres/deptford-branch/ Obviously you would still need a "normal" garage to do servicing and repairs etc.

    • No. What happened? I actually thought, considering it was what we used to call Guy Fawkes Day last night, the loud noises from  fireworks ended remarkably early. About 9pm? Maybe I just fell asleep and didn't hear any later ones. Do people actually burn Guys any more? Apart from at places like Lewes, where I believe they still have Bonfire Societies and burn effigies of various political figures etc.
    • The accompaniment to our "Christmas Pudding" aka Nothing-Whatever-Like-A- Christmas-Pudding last year  at The Cherry Tree was "brandy butter ice-cream." If it had ever been near any brandy, the brandy must have been waved in its direction from a very great distance. Same with butter. The ice cream tasted like bog standard "vanilla" from a catering tub. At least it did bear some resemblance to ice cream. Whereas the "Christmas Pudding" bore no resemblance whatever to any Christmas Pudding I have ever seen or tasted in my many  decades of seeing and tasting Christmas Puddings. Oh, and Cinzano Bianco. Bleurgh. My sister used to drink that. 🤢
