this ride starts from Dulwich Park Cafe SE21 7BQ

Saturday October 1st. 10am - 12 noon

The challenge for the ride leader was to design a non-hilly ride starting from Dulwich. The final route follows the ?lost? river Effra to the Thames. There are a few ups and downs but in all only 245ft of ascent, mostly on the return leg. All the slopes quite shallow.

A good ride to the Thames and back within the usual two hour envelope. The outward route to the river will be quick, unusually the ride will use several main roads, particularly a long run down Brixton Road, mostly in the bus lane. The outward route is going to be quick.

Coming back will be more leisurely and a more typically ?Healthy Ride? back street and parks route. The route map is here: https://goo.gl/p7bpWJ

Anyone unsure of how to get to the start can meet Bruce either outside the library at Canada Water (8.45) or on the long silver bench in Peckham Square (9.15). Bruce has put his suggested routes to the meeting place at https://goo.gl/z1c8mT.

But contact him on 07729 279 945 if you plan meet him beforehand and cycle over together. If he is in a hurry he may vary the route to the meeting place. The main healthy ride route will not change.

    • Thanks for your feedback - we always appreciate hearing from members about their experience. The pool temperature at JAGS Sports Club is maintained at 29oC, in line with industry guidelines for mixed-use pools.  This temperature has been designed to balance comfort for lane swimmers and families. Air temperature is also monitored regularly to ensure a comfortable environment for swimmers, spectators and staff. The shower Temperature Mixing Valves (TMVs) were changed in December to improve consistency, and we hope this has made a noticeable difference. If you would like to discuss your experience in more detail, please contact us directly at [email protected] or 020 8613 6500 and we'll be really happy to help.
    • One wonders if he would have defected if he had, ahem, held on to the leadership of Southwark and whether he felt that "Labour are no longer the vehicle for social justice" during his leadership election........my how quickly things change in the thoughts of a politician 😉 I think this sums things up quite nicely: A senior Southwark Labour spokesperson hit back: “Local residents can draw their own conclusions about Cllr McAsh’s swift move from Labour leadership hopeful to the Green Party, after he didn’t get his own way. While he’s thinking about his own career, Southwark Labour are delivering for residents.” One wonders if he will stand as a Green candidate in Goose Green.
    • No doubt if he determines to stand for a ward he will enlighten us - at least his track record is one of using this site to communicate (inter alia). I would suspect that (1) his personal views on traffic will have remained consistent but that (2) his views on local democracy and proper consultation will have as well.
    • Yes, but I want to know where he stands on all this stuff now. My feeling is it won't be any different from Labour?
