So, Master T is a strong-willed 10m old boy and meal times usually involve his food bowls being picked up and thrown onto the floor along with the contents. We have tried the Tommee Tippee magic mat thing which does offer some resistance but not nearly enough.

Has anyone come across suction bowls that actually work or is this a myth....

We had this probem too and when E couldn't throw the bowl she'd just spend the whole meal time trying to unstick it- not much eating was done! Sounds uncouth but I avoided using bowls, just put food on the pacemat in front of her. Obviously no good with stuff like yoghurt but with lumpy food it's fine as long as they can feed themselves. My little angel refused to be spoon fed after about 8 months anyway.

The throwing bowl stage did pass (sort of we still have to keep as close eye on her) and E has been using a Baby Bjorn bowl for a while. It's very shallow so easy for her to get a spoon in and it doesn't slide all over the place either. Not cheap but worth it IMO.

Nothing works if they are determined. I can't operate the unbelievabowl, plus as crystal7 whole meal then comes about unlocking the bowl. Bought a babybjorn yesterday - made no difference, still tipped up. Minor successes with fairly basic jojomamanbebe suction bowl. Basically just use the high chair tray mostly. Am hoping for improvement by age 5. Am pretty sure the gyrobowl would just be an EXCELLENT toy....

    • Thought I'd add a comment as sadly there are now too many primary schools for the number of children in this area... St Anthony's is a wonderful school and my 2 sons were extremely happy throughout the time they were there. They have some open days for reception and  nursery in Nov I believe and welcome children and families of all faiths and backgrounds. It has lovely staff and I cannot recommend it more highly!
