Full-time live out nanny for 3 children in Dulwich

We are a family in Dulwich looking for a nanny to care for our three children, India (aged 6), Skyla (aged 3.5) and Isaac (aged 7 months).

This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday, 7:30am - 7pm although we would consider a shorter day (9:30am - 6pm) on a Friday if preferred.

India is at school (walking distance from the house) and Skyla is in pre-reception (3 full days as of January which will increase to 4 full days after Easter plus the remaining mornings). Duties would include taking girls to school / nursery, and to activities (ballet, tap, swimming etc.), helping with homework, together with organising playdates, the usual home activities (the girls both love imaginative play and craft activities) and organising age-appropriate activities in the holidays. Duties for Isaac are clearly currently primarily care-based although he has just started monkey music and swimming. We live on Court Lane making it very easy to nip to Dulwich Park.

People often comment on how well the girls get on together and what a "smiley" baby Isaac is - he is very much the placid and easy-going third baby.

We have a cleaner twice a week but would expect our nanny to take care of the children's laundry (washing, ironing and changing bed sheets) and to keep the children's toys and bedrooms tidy (plus encouraging the children to take responsibility for this as they grow older). We would also like someone who is willing to experiment with food.

We have had our current nanny for just over a year and she has loved looking after our children and being part of our family (she is moving on because she is changing career). They have grown very close to their existing nanny and it is important to us that we find someone who can build that kind of relationship with them again.

I return to work from maternity leave at the start of January - ideally we would like someone to start sufficiently in advance of then so that my return to work goes smoothly but start date is otherwise flexible. We are very much looking for the right person for our family and someone who wants a long-term role.

We require a nanny who will enjoy being part of a large, busy family and who enjoys the variety which comes with caring for children of different ages and sexes. Both parents work full-time and so we need someone who understands the pressures of being full-time working parents and who understands that our priority is to spend as much quality time as possible with our children.

Pay to be commensurate with experience. Overtime will often be available although not required.

Fluent English speakers and non-smokers only. Whilst most activities are in and around Dulwich, the logistics of managing the different schedules of 3 children mean that a driver is required (we currently drive an automatic Volvo xc60).

    • Not sure if this is any help but was initally told to use google chrome as the browser and the code was the reference. However the person at Southwark parking took pity on me and did it for me
    • I can see how it could've worked 20 or 30 years ago, when you couldn't swing a pool cue in the Foresters without hitting a sparks, a plumber or a chippy, but the area has changed somewhat. I'm not sure people around here have such trade-able skills these days. Have a word with someone in your local and you'll see. People are always going to need their boiler fixed, a damp patch sorted or their dimmer switch dimmed, but I can pretty much guarantee I'm never going need my corporate policy complied with, my social media planned, my data mined, my green transport tsared, my information architected or my analytics analysed. It reminds me of the great DIY con of the mid to late seventies. My Mum bought into it, my Dad didn't. Anyway, my Mum won out and we let the gardener go (he went on to be TV's Timmy Mallett, so that's a warning from history), but my Dad shorted the house out and singed his head when he cut through the flex on his new Black & Decker hedge trimmer. We all laughed, of course, but he got his own back when, because we didn't use a qualified electrician to do things properly, she electrocuted herself when she pulled the back of the plug off her Carmen heated rollers while it was still in the socket. Keep things professional, say 'No!' to this sort of nonsense. We pay people a decent rate of pay because they're specialists at these things. I did once barter my sister's space hopper and roller skates for twenty-odd square foot of crazy paving, though. That was a birthday present my Mum never forgot, and not in a good way.
    • Thanks both of you. I have also been having the same problem. I emailed the named person on the letter, with no response. I also tried phoning and was transferred to another number which cut me off. I hope they extend the deadline for applying as there are likely to be many people without a permit by the deadline for applying.
    • Crikey, £4 plus does seem excessive for one card, let alone twelve at that price! Did he explain why he wanted to spend so much? There could be many reasons. Did the recipients also send expensive cards? If so, rather than putting them in the recycling bin, you could just cut the handwritten bit off and send them to a different relative the following Christmas!
