Ex Bellowhead, Ex Spiers and Boden, melodeon player extraordinaire ? we are delighted to be welcoming John Spiers back to the Goose, this time in a solo capacity!

It was only during his time studying natural sciences at King?s College, Cambridge that John bought his first melodeon as a way of continuing to play music in a room too small to house a piano. This chance purchase opened up a whole world of new music making and the early exposure to morris dancing suddenly found a context. Highly influenced by the recordings of John Kirkpatrick and with the generous support of the local folk club, his playing advanced very quickly indeed,

John would also take his Melodeon out and about to pub sessions. It was at one such session he met Jon Boden, and the rest they say ...

Aartwork offer something quite eclectic With fiddle and recorder on melody, jazzy acoustic guitar, electric bass and cahon/drums in the rhythm section, Aartwork blend original Celtic style tunes with bluesy/jazzy grooves.

Emma & The Hot Tub Men play an eclectic mixture of original blues and traditional folk songs, with the odd French cover thrown in.

    • Try Gentrification, those with more money than sense who constantly want something different, when pie and mash isn't good enough for them.  "Argentinian Cornish pasties" give3 me a proper Cornish pastie any day of the week, at least I'd be supporting something traditionally British.   ps. tin hat at the ready........................🤣
    • You really have to go and look at the schools yourself, and do some research. My children went to the same school in different years and had very different experiences. Different school focus on different things. It's very personal. We bought close to the school I wanted to go to, and then moved a bit later, when they were old enough to travel on their own.
    • Not even remotely close to the catchment for charter north over there and would imagine outskirts of east (tho should check recent years). Would leave the Harris’s as more guaranteed options so maybe have a look at those and see if you’d be happy with them as a fallback
