Hi, my boss posted a thread to help me out with finding out where all the local nannies are hiding, and suggested it might be a good idea to add my own thread.

I am a 24 year old kiwi, new to London, working as a live in nanny for a gorgeous and very sweet 21 month old girl. Although I am enjoying my time in London, I am finding it does get very lonely, especially since back home I was a teacher and so I am used to having contact with other adults all day everyday.

My charge and I would love to meet some local nannies (or even some kiwi parents!) who would be happy to meet up for playdates and go to local classes together.

Is anyone interested?

I have a mummy friend who is from New Zealand and I know she would be interested in meeting up. She has daughter who is a year old. She goes to Ivydale drop in on Mondays plus we will be attending sparkle music after the holidays.

I usually do nannying but have my own soon to be one year old boy so I don't mind meeting up with you also if you are in Dulwich. As a nanny I understand how lonely it can be if you do not have friends in the area and it is quite hard to make news friends as everyone does tend to be in their own little groups.

Drop me a PM if you are interested. I am sure you will have lots of friends in time!

Good lord, this place is crawling with kiwis. Maybe I should organise some sort of Waitangi Day bash next year? Our son is a bit older (nearly 6) so not up for the playdate thing - but if you're living in and ever fancy some time out / coming over for a BBQ or babysitting (watching the Super 14) let me know! And do PM me and let me know where in nz you're from (the Bay, myself)

    • If this is you or you know of them, please send me a private message. They're likely to live on Crystal Palace Road. Thanks.
    • In my experience there is no fool proof solution to this with any company. Delivery drivers are people and people will make mistakes, cut corners, mis-understand instructions or simply not read them.  I've left instructions for parcels with just about every single company out there and at some point they've all screwed up.  I think the security camera is the best deterrent for thieves. In this case, my ring door bell spooked them off. I've just installed warning signs at my safe space to make it even clearer that they're being recorded. In the case that mistakes do still happen by the couriers, at least I know about it on the camera and can try to alert a neighbour if I'm not home.  Its sad that we have to turn our homes into fort knox with cameras but that's the world we live in.

    • Come now, you have seen the constant threads concerning poor post and deliveries since the Dulwich office closed and merged with Peckham  Surly that alone tells you how it would compare to now as the whole system was way more efficient.  But despite the complaints and warnings here we are!!
