Hi everyone, I go to Bumps and Babes in north Dulwich every Friday, however my LO is fast approaching 12 months, so I was wondering if there is a 'next step up' in the area, and if so where it is? (from Sept). I love BAB at Red Post Hill (simplicity of it and warm atmosphere and the lovely Alice) but am well aware my boistrous little baby will soon be a toddler...he was pinching toys off the younger babies last month so I think its time to move on to babies more his size!

Also any recommendations for cheapo classes for 12 months+ in the ED/Herne Hill area would be much appreciated x

Lochie - I haven't found a good replacement yet!! B&B at Goose Green is more toddler friendly due to the space and think some of the organisers have toddlers. Other playgroups I have been to I find a bit big and scary and there are dangerous things like felt tip pens around, and nowhere to sit so I just seem to hovver around - def not relaxing, maybe better for 2+ yr olds?

Classes - we like sing and sign and tumbletots - but not especially cheap!

Theres always the one o'clock clubs (but at nap time or car journey to Crystal Palace) and mad library sessions I suppose.....

I also keep meaning to investigate the playgroup at St Barnabus in Dulich Village and the one at the church by the station in Peckham - anyone go to those?

Ruby rhymes is in Herne Hill I think - i've not been but is meant to be good. Also think little bubbles might have a herne hill branch? These are paid for ones though, so not cheap either. One o clock club in brock park def is cheap (think just donation for tea/coffee?) and I find it quite good, lots of space and good outdoors bit - plus it's next to a playground.

hello,

I currently lead a baby music class in West Hampstead for babies up to age three which has times throughout the week and am planning to start a similar regular class in the East Dulwich area. The classes are for a mix of ages from babies up to age three so are sibling friendly and involve sing alongs, dancing and percussion playing. The classes are always drop in, ?5/class and would be Monday/Wednesday/Saturday mornings and Tuesday afternoons in East Dulwich.

Ideally I will be starting the classes in the next few weeks and would appreciate any feedback regarding interest/need for such classes in the area and what times/days would be best! There seem to be quite a few other baby music classes in East Dulwich already but they seem to be only once a week, more expensive, age specific or require a term commitment so it appears there may be a need for a class such as mine.

Any feedback would be much appreciated!

All the best,

Bea

beababies - I would be interested in that class. You might be in competition with the Rhyme Time which is free at local libraries though, but I haven't been to enough Rhyme Times to know if that defo is the case.

Thanks for all other comments. I am going to keep going to Bumps and Babes til end of Sept and will nab Alice when I see her and ask about next step up options, she had mentioned a class every Monday run by Mums at the same venue for toddlers. Once I know I'll post info up in case anyone else is interested.

It would be nice to find a local younger toddler friendly group though which was relaxed and you could sit and drink tea whilst the little monsters tire themselves out!! There are masses of music classes (some of which are free like rhyme time and wednesday whippersnappers), little snowboarder likes to RUN (which he does at sing and sign anyway!!) - and believes he is david beckham - when can they start doing these toddler football classes? Not soon enough I imagine!

    • Lost morning of 5th November between Archdale Road  and Denmark Hill station via Lordship Lane.
    • Was planning to come on here to ask if anyone might know which celeb/royal came through Lordship Lane yesterday - was on my way up to Spurs, on bus at the roundabout by the EDT when some whistling police cyclists pulled the traffic to the side of the road to allow a biggish range rover to shoot past, on the way up towards Dog Kennel Hill. Could only make out two, maybe middle-aged, men in the front before it passed. Mildly hysterical lady on pavement was laughing/screeching with her friend that they were desperately trying to find out who it was. Had more reason to post after this lunchtime's experience. Had just got to bus stop opposite the M&S by the station when some mini cooper thing bombed through the traffic, swerving across to cut up another car to get up the hill, before two or three police cars followed about 20 seconds behind. Said mini cooper thing then reappeared coming the other way, beeping its horn to get other cars out the way before it bombed up what I think was Elsie Road, with police cars now on both sides of the road by Maxin trying to stop traffic getting in the way/half the speeding car. Bit more than I had bargained for when I set out/want in local area! Stay careful out there folks, this place is getting scarier...
    • The stop outside the chippy was still closed earlier today, although the barriers I saw yesterday have been removed, so no need for the closure.  The stop outside the church across the road is now uncovered and open
    • You all have different and conflicting interests though. It isn't necessarily appropriate for him to communicate with all of you at the same time about the same issues.    You're giving more away with each post as to how these difficulties probably arose.
