SE15 mate - Peckham Rye, it's ours! Bleedin' East Dulwichers coming over here from SE22 with they'm fancy ways and portable telephones, claiming our pubs...

Oh, how ironic, Mr Harris Academy. As a blow in you dont even know about Blythe but try to be clever here. (Dont bother googling Johnson quotes as we allcan).

Don't you think your obsession with following me around the forum is getting just a wee bit sad now, sweetie? Not quite sure what a "blow in" is in your strange world, I've been living within a mile and a half of East Dulwich station since 1997...but to the north/west, mainly, so that's why I didn't know about a pub in Forest Hill, were I trying to pretend to be a "real local" like yourself I don't think I would have confessed not to know it. Think before posting.

I would ask you to cease your campaign of pointless rude insults against me (and many others who find you equally tiresome) but actually I find them extremely amusing, keep 'em coming.

The Doctor Johnson quote I mentioned on another thread (sorry everyone else, Grok's got a bit of an obsession with my posts, as you can see) is one of the most famous in all of English letters, the fact that you think someone would have to use Google to come up with it speaks volumes about your knowledge.

I'm old enough to remember when pubs sold ale and Guiness not super chilled.

Nuts and crisps in the evening and maybe a steak & Onon pie at lunch time with Worcester sauce if you were lucky.

The chippy was open until midnight after the 'Flicks' turned out. Pie and mash on Peckham Park Road open till 09.00 / 10.00 at night.

The chinese that sold pancake rolls.. chips Rice and curry sauce. that was it.

There were a few Indian restaurants that did Chicken Curry on the bone and plain rice and chapatis.

Kebabs came later.

A few Chain Pizza Huts.. Wimpys.. Golden Egg .. up town..

No one complained..

Pub.. Chippie.. home.. sorted.

Going to the pub for Pizza.. WTF .

DulwichFox.

If that's the case, any chance you and Grok can carry on with your spats via private messages?...

I think it's better kept on here.

We can all see Grok's nastiness then.

Having said on another thread that I don't make personal attacks on other posters, I'll make an exception in his case. He appears to be a thoroughly unpleasant person.

Yeah but (to state the obvious) times have changed, and people want - often expect - pubs to have food available now.

At least at the Gowlett they've kept things simple and essentially just offer one thing. Which IMO is far closer to the "beer, crips, nuts and pies" ethos, than the full a la carte menu that many pubs have now.

RE. Sue's last post....

I think most of us have seen his nastiness, do we have to keep on seeing it?

It's become personal and rh hasn't helped by inviting more insults, even though he admits it's tiresome for the rest of us, that's why I suggest they continue with their spats privately, as they both seem to be getting a kick out of it...

Not that much of a kick but I do admit it's interesting to see how far he'll go. If Grok just wants to spout abuse at me he's welcome to do so via PM, but if he insults me in public I reserve the right of reply. I hardly invited his insults here, I made a joke about Bob Buzzard claiming the Gowlett for SE22 and Grok weighs in calling me a blow in, whatever that may mean to him.

talking of pizza. I had been ill in bed for 4 days last week and hadnt eaten much, couldnt get out to do any shopping, the day i was feeling a bit better, i wanted a pizza, so decided to order one over the phone, from pizza gogo, i had no cash, they said i could pay by card at the door. when the driver came, the woman downstairs came out of her flat and said something to the driver. I came down and told him to come into the hallway as the nosey neighbour was there, she heard this and flew at me and came up to my face nashing her teeth, i shook my fist at her and she said 'go on hit me' i told her it wasnt worth it, a car pulled up and a man and woman got out and the woman started on me pointing to her head and nashing her teeth, i said 'sorry i dont know who you are' she said she was her mother, i said you should try to calm your daughter down. the driver still had his motorbike helmet on and i paid by card for the pizza, thanked him and turned to take the pizza up to my flat, and then as i turned the woman kicked me in the back with her foot. i told them i am going to call the police, which i did. she carried on shouting abuse at me as i went to my flat. I have arthiritis and the assault has aggravated this, and the following day, i had pain down my leg.

The police came within the hour and i told them the account of the assault, they didnt write anything down they just listened and told me i provoked this attack. they left and went to talk to said woman and left. havnt heard anything since,

i was very shaken and now the pain has travelled to the left side of my body.

anyway pizza gogo are fab.

Of course you have the right to reply, but it's not always the best thing to do. You could also choose to ignore him. That's what Jeremy did and it stopped. Don't feed the troll usually works, you're depriving them of the oxygen of attention they seek. You also had the option of reporting him. I say had, as by saying you found his insults extremely amusing and inviting him to send more, you've sort of lost the moral high ground on that one...

I would complain again to the police. Unless you could be considered a physical threat (and therefore self defence could be offered) no one is allowed to assault you, whatever provocation is considered. Especially as bodily harm has resulted.

IMO the Gowlett pizzas are far and away the best pizzas around SE22.

So this thing about "Going to the pub for Pizza.. WTF" is a bit facile.

The Gowlett could be a fecking laundrette, I'd still be going there to get pizza like that.

(despite people who'd probably moan "Going to the laundrette for Pizza.. WTF"

The pub is almost irrelevant (but, now I think about it, a beer with pizza might be a nice combo...)

    • Anything that improves the front of the station has to be a good thing. Opening up the square in front is a superb idea, it will show the beauty of the architecture of the station, just as they did at Kings Cross when they ripped out the monstrosity of the 1960's frontage and now the station gleams. People probably go there to see the beauty of it. Now wouldn't it be good if once opened up and cleaned up, people visited to see how wonderful it then looks. I guess there is a generally lack of trust that the station square will open by the end of next year, HOWEVER, when the current frontage is removed and the square is opened up as it originally was it will look grand.

He supported Trump who is directly threatening our interests and he supported Liz Truss' disastrous budget. He has done his best to ensure our country's decline and now people too proud to admit their mistakes and the deleterious impact of UKIP / The Brexit party / Reform Ltd are again voting for him to finish the job / nail down the coffin lid. Yes, he is a plastic patriot.
