Earthing gas meter

So apparently our gas meter requires a 'mains bonding cable' to earth it to ensure compliance with latest building regs. Has anyone had this done? Any idea of cost?

I don't think it's one those things that HAS to be done, just one of those things where regs have changed over time.

The regs have been around for years, it's just that people are being 'reminded' more.

This explains it fairly simply. I imagine that it is only essential to earth a gas meter if it is in a box outside.
