A vibrant and award winning architectural practice based in South East London is currently recruiting for a part-time bookkeeper to work 2 days a week and start ASAP.


Duties include:


- Processing of purchase invoices and staff expenses

- Processing of fortnightly sales invoices including fees and rechargeable expenses (fees invoicing carried out as per individual clients? agreement and works carried out).

- Credit control

- Dealing with day to day queries, both internal and external

- Multiple bank reconciliations

- Journal postings such as payroll, VAT, pre-payments & year-end journals

- Preparation of quarterly VAT returns

- Reporting to external Accountants with monthly Management Accounts

- Assisting Company Director and Accountants with any finance duties/queries


Key requirements:


- At least 2 years experience in a similar position

- Desirably AAT certified or studying towards a full AAT qualification

- Good attention to details, accuracy and strong numeric skills

- Good communication skills

- Ability and willingness to prioritise and manage your own workload. This is an exciting stand alone position.

- Strong knowledge of excel & accounting system to an advance level. Knowledge of Kashflow advantageous, although training will be provided.

    • But all those examples sell a wide variety of things,  and mostly they are well spread out along Lordship Lane. These two shops both sell one very specific thing, albeit in different flavours, and are just across the road from each other. I don't think you can compare the distribution of shops in Roman times to the distribution of shops in Lordship Lane in the twenty first century. Well, you can, but it doesn't feel very appropriate. Haa anybody asked the first shop how they feel? Are they happy about the "healthy competition" ?

    • Ha! After I posted this, I thought of lots more examples. Screwfix and the hardware store? Mrs Robinson and Jumping Bean? Chemists, plant shops, hairdressers...  the list goes on... it's good to have healthy competition  Ooooh! Two cheese shops
    • You've got a point.  Thinking Leyland and Screwfix too but this felt different.
