A light-hearted look at politics over the pond (but in reality is is not a laughing matter).

Here's a ditty from an earlier time

I believe that life is happy and death is sad

I believe my mum was married to my dad

I believe that things that aren't good tend to be bad

Oh I believe

I'm prepared to believe that Nixon wasn't a crook

I'm prepared to believe Love Story's a readable book

I believe the Dirty Dozen weren't really dirty

I believe that Lucille Ball's still under thirty

Yes I believe Gerald Ford is clever

That Bob Hope will live forever

And that lever is pronounced le-ver

And the best movie ever made was Saturday Night Fe-ver

I'm prepared to say that Colonel Sanders can fry

And that pigs and even DC-10s can fly

I'm prepared to believe that things go better with coke

And the Ayatollah tells a darn good knock-knock joke

I believe that some folk can hear what Bugs Bunny's saying

And that Salt Lake City is a real nice place to stay in

I believe that JR really loves Sue Ellen

I believe that things sound better when you're yelling

I believe that the Devil is waiting to repent

But I can't believe ****** is president

(there's a more recent version for Boris but I'll leave that till later)

Wow there is a whole wiki entry for Regan songs - mainly protest I hasten to add.

Do we have one for Donald and for Hilary?

One good thing has come out of this, a rekindled admiration of Gil Scott Heron.

And here's protest song from Blighty - old school punk

    • hah ha! On the subject of dodgy keys and also police protocol with stolen cars, my first car was a 1969 mini which you could open and start by wiggling a small flat-headed screwdriver. No wonder it was stolen. About a week later the police called to say they'd spotted it on the Dog Kennel Hill estate opposite East Dulwich station. In those days parking was free so at least I didn't receive any tickets, but I surprised the police just left a message with the address and expected me to go and pick it up. I was slightly worried I'd have to tackle the culprits myself when I arrived.
    • Great pub, great deals and great service! Food is second to none Highly recommend 👌
    • This thread is brilliant! I am glad it has a happy ending. The reference to the Punto keys reminds of the days of when you could "jiggle a lock" with a similar car key and I speak from painful memory as a kid I managed to lock the keys in our car whilst on a camping holiday in Spain. My mum and dad didn't speak much Spanish and much hilarity ensued (post event) as they tried to communicate to the driver of a similar make and model of car as to why they had flagged him down and were trying to get him to lend him the key from his ignition!
    • I highly recommend my painter and decorator Sean. I have used him for over 25years. He is reliable and charges a reasonable price.  you can contact him on 07572 779608
