Need a collection point for clothes, food, blankets for refugees stranded in Greece

I am taking my van down to Lesbos in Greece for Christmas to help the thousands of refugees from Syria who are stuck in the country, as the borders are closed to them. I am hoping to load the van full, so I need a church or a hall where people can take the goods, toys, blankets, non perishable foods, & I can load them from there. I only have a small flat!

As soon as this is done, I will update if you wish to make a contribution of any kind. If you wish to make a donation, I will set up an account for this. I have approached some charities to help, but have not received a reply! I am paying for the trip myself & would welcome someone, a volunteer to map read & help when we get down there.

Any questions?

Nice thoughts and kindness Nigel.

I have a friend who was out in Lesvos for a month,. He was doing it through these guys: http://www.drapenihavet.no/en/home/

Be worth getting in touch, as they will no doubt advise of the stuff they actually need and that are in short supply.

Good luck with you venture.

  • 2 weeks later...

Thank you both of you. I have had a reply from Drapinhavet ( Drop in the ocean) & will be coordinating my trip with them. Very excited. I just need a centrally located place to collect the goods together. So if anyone has a place where people can bring their donations for the next 2 weeks I would be very grateful.

More details to follow:

No success yet in finding a collection place locally in East Dulwich. So, I repeat, if anyone knows of somewhere where people can bring clothes, toys, non perishable foods, shoes. It will only be for two weeks & im happy to man the place if needed. Any questions, please call me

Offering free mince pies until they run out.. So very sad to hear about Romeo Jones… been a customer since the opening, any idea where Patrick has gone or details… please pm me.    What is going to be in its place…. • interesting the police said "the car was in demand at the moment" what make/model is that?
    • Just be careful to know exactly what they cover and the limits. i use Many Pets and Medivet, as I think one of the vets is exceptionally good. Some of the NHV are, but I’ve had a couple I’ve not liked at all.  I need consistency and to feel that they actually care more about the animals than the money.
    • I haven't used them myself but I noticed recently that "Snoots" in Forest Hill is going unlimited primary care for £33/month, so basically a subscription. Easy access on the 176 from East Dulwich. I have no idea what it includes so read the contract! It's a chain but only 5 branches so not a mega corporate. 🤷‍♂️ https://www.snootsvet.com/find-us
