Water Charges for council tenants from April 2017

Southwark Housing & modernization Department has written to tenants informing them, Thames Water has provided written notice to Southwark Council, ending their relationship to collect water charges on their behalf from Southwark Council tenants.

The arrangement wil end in April 2017, leading to Thames water billing tenants directly.

Does that mean their rent will be reduced ?

As the water charges are included in the weekly rent bill, this will have an affect of the weekly rent bill, however as the council normally increases rent bills in the new financial year, tenants might not see much of a difference
