Ridgley
A statue was unveiled of heroic Air Chief Marshal Sir Keith Park. ... The ?500000, 9ft bronze statue in Waterloo Place, Central London, depicts Sir Keith ...Tributes paid to Sir Keith Park which I feel this is right he did a great service for Britain in world war 2 and others like him but do you have to be dead to receive a statue and who do you think deserves one?http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1312328/Sir-Keith-Park-honoured-bronze-statue-London.html Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/13296-air-chief-marshal-sir-keith-park-in-london/ Share on other sites

Brendan
Wasn?t this on the Fourth Plinth a while back?Anyway I think you do have to be dead to be made into a statue or if you don?t I?m sure the whole being turned into bronze thing probably kills you. ianr
Yes. There was a bit of a recording with him on Parkinson that was played on the radio recently - might be here http://www.bbc.co.uk/search/sir_keith_park - in which he expressed the opinion that we (ie our air defence) were a week away from defeat when AH switched to civilian targets.
