Dec 10th 10am - 12 noon

The plan is to repeat last year?s December ride to Blackheath and Greenwich Park. The ride starts at Canada Water Library at 10am and goes east via Southwark Park, Quietway 1, The Deptford paths, Brookmill Park.

Regrets and apologies but there is a steep (but short) uphill up Morden Hill. The section on Q1 will pass the 2 new cafes featured in Bruce's blog on this page http://healthyrider.weebly.com/bruces-blog.

You have to scroll down past some stuff about health to get to the post about the cafes. The two new cafes have appeared on the Q1 route, one at Dunton Rd and one 2 miles further east at Folkestone Gardens. The one on Dunton Road is highly recommended.

Probably there won't be time to stop for coffee on the ride but you can come back later once you know where they are. The route back will be along the Thames path (Nat Route 4). A map of the whole thing is at https://goo.gl/NeIuSd

Usual prompt return to Canada Water for 12 noon. For more info contact Bruce on 07729 279 945

    • What a passionate thread this is. I have worked in cycling for years, am a cyclist, a driver, use public transport etc. Driving last night with my two young kids, who also cycle, we made the same observations. It was the kids who first asked me why are most cyclists wearing full black and no lights. We then played a game who can spot all the cyclists, and count those with lights and those without. This teaches them to look out for them but also not to put themselves in a position where we have to strain to find them.
    • On the plus side showers are warm down - for now 😆
    • I don’t know it. Cyclists who chose not to follow advice? Does that extend to pedestrians who fail to follow advice too? Do you “Wear or carry something light-coloured, bright or fluorescent in poor daylight conditions” when walking? As advised by the Highway Code? It’s quite grey out today. If not, and you get hit by a car, should there be no reason for sympathy?
