Afraid it doesn't work like that.If you don't put your closest school as first, and then don't get in to your first choice, because it's not your closest school, you could end up miles away

Thats what i thought fushia. I could end up getting neither Goodrich or Heber if i dont get into dulwich and Village.

Heber is less than 400 mts, Goodrich about 500, and DV is about 800. Thats the order i think i need to put down, even though the actual order of preference is the opposite! What is making decision more difficult is i know that the intake is increasing at DV next year due to the permanent expansion. Effectively , there is 1 more reception class.....which surely increases my chances of getting in?

Southwark should be able to give you the stats re pupils admitted under each criteria and distance.. you can also check if choosing DVI (not a community school) as first choice would mean choosing Heber, say as second, you suffered in the Heber admissions process (closest comm school) because it was second choice.

Goodrich is bigger than Heber, (though Heber had a bulge this year) so it's worth looking at the facts and figures...

If you get the stats, do share!

If you want to know what stats to ask for, look at Lewisham's website. They publish everything! I would recommend applying online. I live on the border of southwark and lewisham so two years ago, I applied to four in southwark and four in lewisham as they don't talk to each other.

    • Off topic (ish) but does anyone else remember when Blue Mountain opened? They had chocolate coated coffee beans and a range of coffee beans sold loose, and I can't remember whether it was freshly baked  bread or rolls or croissants or  something else, but my then partner used to go and buy it/them in the morning. And behind the part with the counter, it was divided into several little rooms, all different colours and styles. There was another room upstairs, though I can't remember if that was open from the beginning  It was great. It went through many incarnations after that, before eventually sadly closing, but I liked the first one best. Also off topic (ish) there was a Greek? Turkish? deli opposite. My then partner bought some yoghurt there once, and when he got it home he found it was months (I think) past its sell by date. He took it back. The guy in the shop opened it up, looked at it, sniffed it and said "There's nothing wrong with that." 😂
    • However, some would particularly like to avoid reviews of the 'there are far too many mice'; 'the cakes are deteriorating badly' nature. If you consider that a 'Negative Nelly' response. My experience was that the hot drinks and the varieties of e.g. teas on offer, were generally a positive element. As were the staff serving.
    • The hare krishna restaurant is called Govindas and still going strong in Soho Street, a different establishment to the one that used to be (still is?) in Hanway Street. I must go back to Govindas some time
    • Its that time of year again, past Christmas day and late delayed cards are turning up. How late are your cards arriving ?  Last year I had one delivered 4 weeks late. Can that be beaten this year ?
